Our Verdict

These will sell out within seconds. I got in on this in prior years, it does necessitate being by a device the second it goes live and refreshing the page. I’d go for the $500 card or for two $250 cards, though odds are slightly better on the $100 cards. Once you put the item in your cart you have a few minutes to checkout – it’s getting it to your cart that needs to be quick. Try having two separate devices open and go for a second after you get the first.

A couple of data points on Payments Workshop indicate that these purchases code as travel, so use your CSR or Prestige or cash out some Arrival+ points on the purchase. These are ordinary gift cards which don’t expire. Could be a reselling play depending on your selling relationships.

You’re also entered in a $10,000 Grand Getaway sweepstakes for every Daily Getaways purchase you make.

did anybody not using a “bot” or some sort of script or nefarious tool actually get one of these this year? I’d mark this as “dead before it started.” (to mere mortals who read this blog) One more reason to not pay attention to daily deals.

yup, $600.

You got one $500 and one $100?
I managed to get a $500 but only by magically refreshing the page at precisely within seconds of 1:00pm. I wouldn’t even know how to use a bot/script to get this…

Ditto, manual click right at 1:00pm, stated on hold, it refreshed itself and I was able to purchase the $500. It never worked in the past.

I was able to get the $500 gift card, but didn’t check out since I didn’t need it. I wanted to see how easy it was/how it works so I can buy the Hyatt points next week. Seems easy enough as long as you’re on the page before it starts and have a good connection.

Yep, I got $100. Probably just lucky. First time I’ve ever gotten through on Daily Getaways.

Got two $250 gift cards held (about 2 minutes after it started, despite everything being held within 1 second of the on-sale), and then it gave me an error message when I submitted! It even charged my credit card and then reversed it. To say I’m unhappy with Daily Getaways right now would be a large understatement.

On another note, their deals are CLEARLY being botted, and they’ve done absolutely nothing to stop it over the years. Put in a Captcha at least! If the gift cards weren’t put on hold until completing a captcha, I guarantee it would be easier for those of us who aren’t cheating to win.

I managed to get 1x $100, but every other denomination/qty was sold out.

I’ll take it. Traveling for work next week so quick $20 arbitrage since I expense it all.

I had 3 $100 gift cards in my cart I quickly filled out my info and once I hit the purchase button it said there was an error and they were gone. 🙁

The exact same thing happened to me. My card was even charged (and then reversed). it’s clearly their end that screwed up, and I bet they won’t do anything to fix it. I emailed them (and was polite about it).

Managed to get in on this last year. But like others, today I refreshed right at 1 on two devices, clicked buy now instantly, but was told both the $250 and $400 were already on hold for others. Oh well… I blame bots.

Per T&C, card may not be used for deposit, advance purchase or to secure or confirm a reservation. So, this can’t be applied to a future reservation?
