The Offer
- Receive 70,000 bonus points after you spend $2,000 in purchases in your first three months on the Marriott Rewards Premier credit card.
- Card is not available to everybody, when you click apply you’ll need to log into your Marriott account. If you’re not eligible you will be redirect to the 50,000 point offer. Given that elitehppermv is in the URL, chances are you need elite status with Marriott to be eligible.
The Fine Print
- Annual fee of $85 is waived for the first year
- Card earns at the following rates:
- 5x points per $1 spent at all Marriott & Ritz Carlton locations
- 2x points per $1 spent on airline tickets purchased directly, car rental agencies & restaurants
- 1x point per $1 spent everywhere else
- Card also comes with a free night certificate for a category 1-4 property for the first year and an anniversary bonus of a free night certificate for a category 1-5 property.
- 15 credits towards Elite membership after approval and every year after account anniversary
- 1 elite credit for every $3,000 spent
Our Verdict
This is a bonus that comes and goes fairly regularly, I haven’t seen any bonuses higher than 70,000 points before. At the moment there is also another offer out there for this card which gives you $150 statement credit after your first purchase and 40,000 points after you spend $2,000 within the first three months, although this seems to be restricted to Marriott elites as well.
Personally I’d prefer to the $150 to 30,000 Marriott points, but that choice is up to you. Marriott points can also be useful in getting the Southwest companion pass which some people might be interested in.

Data point: cancelled my prior card in late 2014 after having open for 2+ years. Applied 2/13, got approved, and cert already deposited in my account.
Thanks for the data point RTC, I’m pretty sure Chase cards are fully churnable and as long as you get approved, you get the bonus. Seen a lot of similar data points recently and even one person doing back to back applications and getting the bonus twice.
FYI I’m not elite and the offer shows up just fine on my account
Did you click apply?
I actually did not (I don’t value Marriott except for the SW comp pass). Too many other great products from Chase.
Ah ok, the offer shows up for everybody it’s when you click apply that they check your elite status.
ok, cool, thanks for that clarification. great blog
