Match Your M Life Gold Status To Hyatt Explorist

Update 1/1/20: This is still working

Update 1/1/19: This is working in 2019 as well. Relevant links:

If you’ve previously matched your old Hyatt Platinum status to M Life gold and then matched that to the new Hyatt Explorist then you’re Explorist status will be due to expire on 2/28/18. M Life Gold status doesn’t expire until 9/30/18 though, this means you can match your M Life Gold to Hyatt Explorist until 2/28/19. You can do this match online here. Hyatt Explorist gives you the following benefits:

  • Receive 4 Club lounge access awards annually, which include breakfast daily. (these will post instantly)
  • 20% bonus on base points
  • Full list of benefits here

I can’t really see this lasting long term, as it would effectively let people match between the two programs in a constant loop. But maybe there is a small enough number of people in this situation that it won’t be an issue (not really possible anymore as the Chase Hyatt card only gives Discoverist status).

If you’re having issues, follow these steps: log into Mlife in another tab first, then go to Hyatt page. If error is that you already matched then log out of Hyatt and log back in and see if it updated to 2019 anyway

Are you recommending matching M Life to Hyatt before our Hyatt status actually expires on the 28th? For some reason I was thinking I needed to let my Hyatt status expire first (and then match from M Life), but I can’t remember why I thought that.

Do the Explorist club awards expire on 2/28 as well? Or they are still valid until their listed expiration even when no longer an Explorist?

Just tried it, mine got renewed with certs expiring Feb 20th 2019. Is the expiration tied to the date of the match?

I think it’s tied to the date of the match. Did mine just now, and the expiration date is 22/2/2019

My M life is saying Platinum but they don’t show that as a level anymore??

Anyone else getting an error when you get to Hyatt’s page?

I had no problem re-matching my MLife Platinum to extend my Hyatt Explorist through Feb 2019. I was planning to wait until after Feb 28 when the current Hyatt year expired. Make sure you log into MLife first and then click on the MGM -> Hyatt link:

https://www.mgmresorts.com/en/mlife-rewards-program/preferred-partners/hyatt-hotels.html

You’ll likely be asked to log into your Hyatt account unless you are already logged in. It stated I was already matched, but after logging out and back in on Hyatt’s site, my status end date became Feb 2019.

is there any other way to get the M Life Gold (other than through the Hyatt route)? I didn’t get matched before World of Hyatt started so I can only match it to the lower tier now with my Discoverist status 🙁

You can match Total Rewards Diamond to Mlife Gold, in person at a casino.

You can get Total Rewards Diamond in any of several ways:
by gambling, by buying a FoundersCard membership (not recommended), by status matching from a cruise line that Total Rewards partners with, or from an instantaneous online match with Wyndham Diamond.

It’s easy to get Wyndham Diamond status, by matching from any number of other hotel chains.

Thank you for that information. It should prove useful for me soon I hope.

Just left mLife office at MGM casino in national harbor. My Total Rewards diamond only got matched to mLife pearl which I already had through Hyatt.

Anyone else have better luck?

Yes! Extended Explorist through Feb 28th, 2019 with ease. Ensure you follow Jody’s comments below. “Make sure you log into M life in another tab first, then go to Hyatt page. If error is that you already matched then log out of Hyatt and log back in and see if it updated to 2019.”

Wow. Thanks William. I’m religious when it comes to reading this blog and yet I missed this match tip. I had gotten MGM Gold using Hyatt Plat from credit card a few years ago. They should have removed my Gold status 9/30/17 I believe since World of Hyatt removed Plat in June 2017? but they didn’t. Oddly I still have Gold and just became Explorist a minute ago. Thank you. My wife on the other hand was dropped down to the lowest level with MGM (prob 9/30/17) so I can’t work the Explorist deal with her. She’s discoverist like I was. She had gotten the Hyatt card at the same time as I and we signed up for MLife Gold on the same day in Vegas. I guess I was lucky they hadn’t downgraded my MGM account yet.

Not sure what I am doing wrong. I have Mgm platinum . I have explorist expiring on feb 28 2018. I log into Mgm in one tab. Then log into Hyatt in a second tab. Then log out of Hyatt, and back in, expiration remains in 2018. Believe I tried the links above. I got Mgm platinum originally from Hyatt diamond I believe.

Not sure why this is being attempted prior to the March 1 downgrade, other than a lot of people are writing about this so it might disappear.

Any suggestion of what I am doing wrong? Sorrry if I am just slow. Thank you

You can link Mlife accounts between 2 people living in the same household and they will have the same status. Then when your wife has your Mlife status she can match that to Hyatt.

Thanks JHS. I read somewhere that you have to go to Vegas in person otherwise can’t do it. Wonder if there is a workaround. Not going to be Vegas till next year.

JHS
JHS

My experience required both of us being there in person but maybe there is a workaround. Also, it can be at any of their locations and not just in Vegas, if that helps you at all.

Okay this post gets my vote for the most useful post of the year award. On any blog I follow. I had heard about this match but nobody explained how to actually do it. Makes up (a little) for Hyatt doing such a great job of destroying their program and demoting people/making status so hard to maintain. For one more year anyway. Maybe by then they will figure out how to undo the damage they did with WOH.

NinjaX
NinjaX

nobody cared to explain because its not a match. its a loophole. the only reason why its still alive is because EXPLORIST is complete shit. if this was a Globalist match, this crap would never be posted.
