Deal has expired, view more McDonald’s deals by clicking here.

The Offer

No direct link, being advertised in restaurant

  • McDonald’s is offering a free big mac every month for a year when you purchase an Arch card of $50 or more

The Fine Print

  • Valid until December 31st, 2018

Our Verdict

This sounds like a receipe for me getting fat so I’ll pass on this deal, but if you’re a big mac lover then this is ~$40 in free big mac’s so could be a good deal.

I believe it is mostly at corporate stores – which make up about 10 percent of the total. Franchisees are not obligated to participate in promos. I emailed McD via the contact link at their website for info on my local corporate stores. And yes, it would therefore make sense that the Big Mac is redeemable ONLY at the original store (or maybe at other corporate stores – but again, you would need a list.)

Got this response:

Hello:

Thank you for taking the time to contact McDonald’s. We appreciate this opportunity to respond to your inquiry.

McDonald’s has national and many local promotions running across the country at any given time. Unfortunately, we are not able to maintain details on all local promotions, including the one you are referring to in your e-mail. I would encourage you to contact the management of your local McDonald’s restaurant to determine the dates and other details of this promotion. Because 90% of McDonald’s restaurants are independently owned and operated, prices and participation may vary.

Again, thank you for contacting McDonald’s. We hope to have the opportunity of serving you again soon under the Golden Arches.

My local McD’s (Manchester, NH – hometown of the McDonald brothers) has never heard of this deal 🙁

Just went to one McDonald’s to check. They have no idea about this promo. Is this nation wide?

I just picked up one of these. It is a physical punch card. The card does say “Redeemable Only at” with the address of the store I picked it up at. I asked them about this and they said YMMV regarding other stores honoring it.

I live in FL and hit the drive-thru for $1 iced teas several times a week. Each of those receipts has a fill-in-survey-get-free-fries offer on it. Now a monthly Big Mac. Not too shabby, McD’s, not too shabby at all.

Whoever already did this deal (seems some commenters did), can you please elaborate HOW you redeem the Big Mac’s?
Is it a punch card, in app tracking, employee remembering your face, … ?

Closer to half that since you can actually use the card to buy more Big Macs.

I hate this deal as I (together with all of you responsible citizens) will be footing the bill for the aftermath.

Debatable. It used to be that obese people saved taxpayers money by dying early and cheaply as opposed to healthy people who consumed government-funded Medicare for decades and slowly died of expensive cancer. But these days, even obesity is manageable and care is subsidized through the ACA.

I assume that I can do this deal more than once? I go to Mac’s once a week. This would be fantastic for me.
