The Offer
- Miles from home is a program that offers you American Airline miles for buying/selling a home. It seems they will refer you to a real estate agent firm and then you receive 2,000 American Airline miles for every $10,000 of the sales price/purchase price of the home you’re purchasing. Seems there is a cap of 50,000 miles.
The Fine Print
- AAdvantage® miles are offered in most states.
- The real estate program is not available in Iowa.
- AAdvantage® miles eligibility on real estate transactions: a) requires registration with the program and use of a participating real estate firm; b) requires initial introduction to the participating real estate agent/firm by a program Coordinator; c) is restricted to properties not currently under contract to buy and/or sell; and d) is restricted to 1-to 4-family residential properties located in the US, its territories, and Canada. e) is restricted only to new transactions.
- The AAdvantage miles is only available with the purchase and/or sale of your home through the use of a program-approved real estate agent. All real estate transactions are negotiable.

Our Verdict
Not sure I can overstate how much of a bad idea it is to choose your real estate agent based on a few American Airlines as a bonus. It’s a really really bad idea, do not do this deal. I guess you could theoretically independently do your own research and then sign up for this promotion and if it refers you to the same real estate agent go for it. But I think you’d still probably be better off going direct and then asking for a fee discount as they are obviously paying money to this company for referrals. I’ll say it again: this is a bad deal, don’t do it! Please!
