The $95 on my business American Express Green card just posted. I haven’t used the card much, and decided to just chat and cancel it. Interestingly, the rep transferred me over to a special retention chat team. It’s probably not new, but I don’t recall having retention done over chat before.
They offered me either a $75 statement credit with no requirements or 5,000 points after spending $3,000 within 3 months. I opted for the statement credit.
Another interesting thing is that they made me agree to a disclosure that I’ve agreed to keep the Green card with the statement credit posting within 8-12 weeks; also, if I engage in abuse, etc, or if I cancel or downgrade within 12 months, they reserve the right to revoke the statement credit.
That’s the same kind of language they say with regards to signup bonus offers, and they had that on my retention offer as well. Pretty sure this isn’t new either, but a couple of interesting tidbit so I thought worth sharing.
Overall I’m happy with how they mostly offset the annual fee.
