Our Verdict

This is valid on $25 denomination only. One nice thing about  is that you get credit card rewards on the entire purchase, before the discount, since the rewards come as a credit back to your Swagbucks account; more details can be found in our review of mygiftcardplus here.

If you’re new to Swagbucks then please read our review. You can also get a bonus of up to $13 by using a referral link.

I don’t have Safeways near me but I would like to gift them.
How easy are the eGift cards to use inside a store?
Is it a hassle?

atexit8 Three main issues: First, the e-card must be printed out; stores will not accept the card on a phone screen even though it’s an e-card. Second, even though there are instructions on the card that tell the cashier exactly how to ring it up (certain keys have to be hit in the right sequence), some cashiers don’t ring it up correctly, so the user has to know enough to point them to the instructions on the card. Third, I have, on occasion, had issues where the cashier did not believe the e-card was real and had the manager come over the verify it.

So , yes, definitely more hassle than a plastic card.

Thanks!
The instructions on the eGift card are in bold print on the eGift card.
They must run into lots of problems.

Don’t buy the e card. It’s a pain to use it.

YMMV. Officially it needs to be printed (it has instructions to redeem), but unofficially, it depends on whether the cashier knows what’s going on, and also store policy. I haven’t had much resistance even scanning out of gpay.

However, you cannot scan it at self-check, you need a person.

After I log in the 14 percent changes to 1 percent. What is going on here?

pete Make sure that your MyGiftCardsPlus account is set to pay you back in Swagbucks. If your account is set up to pay you in MyPoints points, for example, the discount will not show up.

Little pro tip: sometimes when you buy a gift card from here, they will ask you to do a quick 1 min survey which give a 10 SB rebate on top of the whatever rebate is rewarded on your next purchase.

If you space out each purchase you can save a bit more money. I know it’s penny pinching at that point but I’m sure there are people that want to maximize value as much as possible.

Aren’t these gcs usually available on up to 20% discounts anyway? What’s the appeal of this site?

Gerald

Maybe most of them, but it’s rare to get a discount like that on grocery stores like Safeway.

Gerald True, but even those can be had at Amazon with shop with points offers. 10% is very common offer and 5% with any amazon card or discover/chase category. 15% is relatively easy for safeway. But yes, those who spend a lot there anyway, more ways of getting are good. Safeway is definitely a good option here. But in general, with all other gcs didn’t get much appeal for this website. Thanks for sharing

I think I have only one credit card that has shop with points.
And Amazon never alerts me with the offers.
I have to find out about here or on Slickdeals.
Major pain in the neck as far as I am concerned.
I never know if I am targeted.
This is an easy 14% back.

Gerald I know you can use the plastic gift cards at Safeway gas stations, not sure about the e-gift cards. Any one have any luck? Also, you can get $20 off $75 any day at Safeway on order pickup. Just create a new account every time you shop there.

Dave E-gift cards can be used at Safeway gas stations when you prepay directly with the cashier, but make sure you print them out first. Gift cards cannot, I believe, be used to pay for delivery and pick-up.

RM Thank you. Last time I used an e-gift card I asked Q. Does it actually need to be printed out or can I show it to you on my phone? A. It needs to be printed out. Q. Oh okay, I guess you have to file it away then. A. No, we just put it here (the garbage next to the register).

You are correct about p/u and delivery. There’s no where to input GC numbers in an online order unfortunately.

Where to buy 20% off gc then

djfly
djfly (@guest_1339011)
February 25, 2022 10:03

fhji many ways. Amazon, paypal, slide app, newegg, etc. Many deals pop up very often on up to 20% off on these gcs. So much so that I rarely buy most of these gcs at a lesser discount than 20%. But to each its own. Just sharing my views and experience. If this works for you, all the power to you. Thank you

FYI Safeway digital gift card is very annoying to use. Most cashiers don’t know how to do it and treat you like you’re scamming them.

Lily totally agree. I face the same thing at Safeway’s sister company store on the East coast.
In today’s agebits quite unbelievable that they expect you to print the gift card and bring it to the store every time. You can’t load it to their own app even.

I have built that shield long time – buying VGCs made me used to being treated like a person of suspect by the cashiers. But yeah, those paper printouts are annoying, much prefer plastic Safeway GSs.
