Premier Rewards Gold

What You Should Know

  • If you aren’t targeted, call American Express to see if they can add the offer to your account. This is usually possible. At the moment the direct links don’t seem to be working either, so calling in regardless of whether you received an e-mail or not seems like it’s required.
  • SSN is not required when you add an authorized user, but you need to provide one within 60 days of account opening (people have been denied the bonus in the past for not providing this in time)
  • American Express authorized user accounts do count towards your Chase 5/24 status/total.

F.A.Q

Does being added as an authorized user prevent you from getting the sign up bonus?

No, you can be added as an authorized and then sign up for the card as the primary cardholder and still receive the sign up bonus.

Who needs to spend the money to trigger the bonus?

Authorized user needs to complete the spend requirement. Keep in mind authorized users have their own unique card number so this is easy to track. It’s highly unlikely that spend completed by the primary cardholder will trigger the bonus.

Our Verdict

Please share any other offers you received in the comments, along with any direct login links if you have them available. Previously people were having issues with these bonuses posting, but over the last week it seems like more and more of them are posting. Hopefully the people still waiting will be put out of their misery soon.

Got the same offer back in December for my PRG over chat, alternative for those who don’t like calling in.

data point: if you add yourself and don’t enter a SSN, it may still end up on your credit report (2 of 4 self AUs with self name variations ended up on mine). Fortunately, after they were canceled (after 60d), i could get them off my credit report by opening a dispute. I didn’t get all the points either because i added all 4 AUs in one shot (i only got 5k for the first card added). Report from reddit suggest adding each AU individually to get points for each.

Do you have a link? I want to do this for the PRG if I get approved (currently through recon atm).

This is just me being new, but what held you back from maxing out the 20k AU bonus?

Amex didn’t claw back the bonus after you got the card?

Would you say getting an AU card once every 10-14 days is a safe pace to lock in the bonuses on all 4 AU cards?

Also, how did you get the AUs off your credit reports after Amex closed the accounts?

That explains why I did not get 2 out of 3 bonuses for AU on EveryDay card… but I called them and after months of follow up the bonuses have posted… you can do the same, or actually could have if you would not cancel the AU accounts.

Hey. I once had an issue (I had added them both at once). In the end they manually issued me the points, but there was some investigator constantly calling me for weeks first.. annoying, plus I didn’t want eyes on my account.
Good to know why. Thanks.

not gonna mess with amex AU when i know they are watching from last time. people went crazy and put eyes on the situation. only good thing is that amex doesnt act like chase… yet…

Still waiting to get my points from the promo last year. Not really worth the struggle when you have to spend months asking where the points are

exactly the DP im talking about. thanks.

Same here, met spend in November 2017 on 3 AU’s. Points still haven’t posted

Finally got my points from last August on May 5. There is hope.

I got 2,500 Skymiles on 5/7 after meeting AU spend in October. My AU’s weren’t real (one was a pet, one was my nickname) so I never asked Amex to investigate. I had zero expectation of seeing the miles at this point so it was a pleasant surprise.

I had to call in and speak with a supervisor. Got all 8 AU bonuses (4 from Plat and 4 from PRG) after only the first one from each card posted organically.

Did you earn the points legitly, or did you get the AU cards for yourself to get the bonuses?

One AU was me, three others were family members. Amex chat has told me adding yourself as AU is fine though.

Am I misunderstanding this… you can add yourself as an AU on your own card? AMEX is fine with that… how could you do that? Sorry, new to that aspect of the hobby… have a blessed day!!

You’re not misunderstanding this. Although I don’t get why Amex allows this. I can understand wanting to have the card available in multiple places maybe (work, home, car, etc).

Added all in one go on PRG and on Amerirprise late last year – managed to get all the points for both (total of 40K, 20K on each), but only after spending an insane amount of time on the phone trying to explain which bonus points had posted to which card. It’s definitely a minefield. All AU cards were mine, same name, same social, all organic spend (there was one legitimate gift card). They didn’t care, but it was very, very difficult to get the points.

Just got some points posted automatically from my Ameriprise Platinum. This means the AU bonus is at 35k. 5k almost immediately, 5k manually applied after complaining shortly thereafter, 10k manually applied after I complained more, then 15k automagically (no more complaining this time). Best guess is that the process may now be working, and this 15k is in addition to the original 5k, but they didn’t realize the other 15k had been applied manually to make up the difference… watch your balances, there might be a nice surprise.

I added 2 at the same time for the Amex Platinum. Got both bonuses with no issues whatsoever. Going to add my son now since he just turned 13

Still waiting on points from last year. Only ever got 1 and I signed up for 4 in one go, then 3 more separately to test the hypothesis of having to go one at a time. Not gonna waste my time again.

appreciate the DP.

What about different Plat versions? Like Morgan Stanley and Schwab Plat? Are these platinum cards also eligible to get this offer?

Is this only available on vanilla Plat? Or would they be able to add the offer on my Ameriprise?

Who’s 5/24 does it count against? Primary user or authorized user?

the one who’s name the AU card is in

The AU… but you can still use the card and get the bonus without actually activating it with the AU ssn and dob.

If I get approved for the PRG, will this feature apply as well or only for the Plat?
Also, I read somewhere that if I get an AU for myself, Amex requires SSN within 2 months and If I dont give them one, they will close the AU…can anyone confirm or deny?
I am assuming if I use my own SSN, Amex will deny the request for an AU card?

Any chance for posting the direct link in the email? Worth a try.

Link looks unique per email

I got this offer in a targeted email in my PRG

Would this work on the Ameriprise Platinum that has a $0 Annual fee for the first year? .

Can i add this on my Business Rewards Gold and Business Platinum?

I only got the email for my personal plat, not business.

Are AU accounts eligible for Amex Offers seperate from the primary account? If so, do they need a separate login to manage them?

Yes^2

I maxed this out with four AUs on the last offer which ended in April. I also got this new email. Any idea if another four AUs are eligible for the bonus? I just ordered one AU card via the email to test this out. Wondering if anyone has already done this multiple times?

Appreciate it if you can send me the link. I will try and report back. Thanks. Email is tobias.hanrath91@gmail.com

Can you please post the link? Thanks!

Success! These offers are separate. My 5th AU (first added via this new email) just got the bonus as well.

As far as the link, pretty sure it’s unique/targeted.

Hi Sweatheart,

As long as you’ve received the bonus, do you feel comfortable about sharing the link? This blog has posted several posts on the AU offers and I believe the link posted in the past are all from readers or the authors. I do not understand what do you mean by “unique”. If you receive an email and click into a icon or button to add the AUs then right click the icon/button and copy the URL/link then it is the link we are eager to see shared. According to my experience, the link is the same for all emails they sent. You are targeted card members so you don’t need to worry about getting the bonus and AMEX has no way (and no reason) to catch you if we use the link. The link was sent to a tons of people. And AMEX really doesn’t lose anything. They want people to use their card.

I tried calling in to get it added with no luck
