Hat tip to LoyaltyLobby

Original post: On Monday February 25th, 2019 IHG will release a new PointsBreaks list. IHG members will be able to book select properties for 5,000, 10,000 or 15,000 points per night. So far no sample list has been provided.  Previously all PointsBreaks properties cost 5,000 points per night but two lists ago they introduced other properties costing 10,000 and 15,000 points per night. Fingers crossed for some good properties this time.

After each new list comes out, I swear off breakpoints in disappointment. But the hope somehow returns for 3 days before a new list is released… I’m prepared again for disappointment.

Yeah it’s not what it used to be but if you go in with realistic expectations, there can be some good ones. I’m driving from California to Texas in April so I have pretty high hopes this time to pick up a cheap hotel on my route. Crossing fingers!

yeeeooooRob, give it up man…… keep lowering those expectations, man, keep lowering them…… and when IHG gives you a paper clip for a platinum amenity, man, you’ll be soooo happy….. anything else, man, that would be socialism

veeRob

Woah escot how do you really feel?

They roust you out of bed at 3am if you don’t pay another 15k points. And the resort fee is charged twice.

Variable-point pricing is coming to IHG.

Last time I think there were three 5,000 point hotels in all of the US. Three!

There were more than that but when all availability is gone they get deleted from the list.

I’m hoping for Allentown PA for 5,000 points. Why? I gotta be there for 4 night in June.

I think these will be valid through the end of May, so don’t hope too much this time around!!

“loyaltylobby” doesn’t deserve a hattip for this…. ah,never mind. For those who think loyalty.lobby is a credible source, that it’s about anything more than loyalty between the blog and the hotel chain (but not mere “rif raf” travel hackers), well, enjoy your fantasy.

there are some useful posts on there…but mostly it’s just promoting corporate promos it seems. not too useful apart from that. I seldom visit.

Any idea what time the list goes live and when the first chance of booking is?

Doc, Please don’t even waste your time to cover topic on IHG point break. It is a joke.

Seriously, I just checked the list and it’s such a joke. It stopped being reportable when they added 10k & 15k tiers.

InterContinental Minneapolis – St. Paul Airport – 15K points – This is a brand new hotel located at the Minneapolis / St. Paul (MSP) airport. Also has free shuttle to Mall of America.

Ugh. No real surprise as to how bad this has gotten. It was fun while it lasted. I’m not even sure why they do this anymore.

Only 1 listing in all of California. WHAT A JOKE !!!

Lake Havasu during Spring Break season isn’t bad, and the Santa Ana HIX is a short drive or Lyft ride away from Disneyland, Anaheim Stadium, and the Honda Center. The MSP Intecontinental, as mentioned, is right at the airport and the Seattle Staybridge is right in the heart of downtown. I would have liked to see more US properties, of course.
