The Offer

Direct link to offer (if the link doesn’t work make sure you’re logged in. You might also just see it under promotions or just wait a few days)

  • Marriott has launched the latest Megabonus promotion, this is valid on stays between September 26th, 2018 and January 31st, 2019. You earn the following:
    • 2,000 points per stay (two night minimum)
    • 1,000 points per brand (starting on your second brand)

The Fine Print

  • Must register by January 7th, 2019

Our Verdict

This promotion isn’t bad, it’s just so boring. In my opinion a good hotel promotion is something that makes me think about changing my booking habits. A promotion like this requires no thought at all on my behalf and it’s like the marketing team isn’t even trying. I’ll register for the promotion and if I happen to have some Marriott/SPG/Ritz stays then I’ll happily take the extra points but 3,000 points per two night stay at maximum is not even close enough to get me to rebook or prioritize these properties.

No hotel.promotion ever makes me change. I choose based and price and proximity to where I need to be.

Still not working for me. Sent an email. They must be slammed. Still LOTS of problems with my account–missing reservations, missing free night credit, etc. Been having to call in for things I should be able to do on the website.

Well that stinks. I have a multi-night stay ending Sept 25. Couldn’t you start it a week earlier, Marriott?

The 2 nights or more is certainly disappointing to see.

I have separate accounts with Marriott and SPG which I haven’g merged yet. I have an upcoming stay at an SPG hotel. The Marriott Megabonus offer states that stays in SPG hotels are covered. But is it conditioned on merging the accounts?

Earlier today I logged into my SPG account (I haven’t merged yet either) and clicked on Promotions and there it was. So you can also register on the SPG side if you still have separate SPG and Marriott accounts. (I’m not sure if the link above works on the SPG side, but if it shows up under your Promotions tab, you don’t need the link.)

I clicked the link but got the “we’re sorry” error message — as soon as I logged into my account, the home page had a promotions section with a link to register. So does not appear to be targeted

My offer says “Members electing to earn miles are not eligible for this promotion. ” There is no text about ineligibility for using points.

I’m guessing this is only for paid stays right? I have a points stay at a W coming up and then a paid stay at a Fairfield after that, so I wouldn’t received a total of 5000 just 2000 for the Fairfield stay?

The fine print on the promotions page says that nights spent while redeeming an award are not eligible, so it does seem to only be for paid nights.

Where do you see that? The only exclusion I see is that people earning miles instead of Marriott points, those using third party sites (like Expedia I guess) and some travel agents.

Other than that, it says ALL stays. so I think your points stays will count.

I registered anyway, but I have so many points I don’t foresee paying for any Marriott room for quite a while, but wouldn’t mind getting a few more.

Yeah I read it the same way. Missing out on 3k isn’t the end of the world but ill always take more if I can.

I don’t think so. Actually it says no in the fine print. While Marriott went to allowing Award stays to count for status a few years back (they didn’t before), I have never seen Award Stays count toward a MegaBonus or other Promotion.
