[OOS] Newegg: $100 Hotels.com E-Gift for $85, Limit 2

Item is now out of stock

The Offer

Direct Link to offer (contains our affiliate link)

  • Newegg is offering $100 Hotels.com e-gift for $85.

The Fine Print

  • Limit 2 every 48 hours
  • Offer ends Sunday

Our Verdict

It should be possible to get 2 now and another 2 on Sunday after your 48 hour mark, unless they sell out sooner. Remember to shop through a shopping portal – last I recall, Newegg does track gift card purchases, despite portal terms listing that as an exclusion. Topcashback is at 2%, Ultimate Rewards is at 1x, see all options here.

For anyone else wondering about combining this with Capital One Venture’s 10x miles at hotels.com, it sadly won’t work:
“Use of a Hotels.com gift card or Hotels.com Rewards free night will be deducted from the booking value and only the remaining amount paid with a Capital One Venture or VentureOne credit card is eligible for the 10x miles.”

I’ve used Hotels.com for at least 30 bookings a year for a few years now. I’ve had no problem with any hotel not honoring the room I paid for. Whether it’s the “worst room in the place” isn’t my concern, a hotel is just for us to sleep at. I don’t care if they put me in the worst room, as I expect the hotel I’m staying at is at least clean (I don’t stay at Motel 6).

In fact some hotels have partnered with Hotels.com so Gold members get things like late checkout, free drinks, free breakfast, discounts on spa/massages, etc. Case in point we just completed a 3 day weekend at a resort near Galveston, and we got 2pm late checkout and free drinks. The room location was ideal and if they DID give us the “worst room in the place”, it was as good as a room as any.

I suppose YMMV but the 15% discount + credit card points + 10 nights/get 1 free, makes it worth it for us. We’re Hilton Diamond thanks to the Aspire card but that doesn’t mean I won’t shop around on Hotels.com to see what the other options are to get the best value.

Hotels.com (part of Expedia Group) is very convenient for bookings in Europe as well. You can limit your searches to your desired part of a city, sort by distance from train station, monuments, etc. Allegedly they make low, “secret” prices available to members. I just wish they made your free nights available more quickly, so you could use them toward the end of a trip. The 10th night free usually take about 35 days to become available for use. Still, there are multiple stacking opportunities and/or discount coupons; I save a lot. And to me they seem to have better search tools than Booking.com.

My wife and I have diff last names and diff legal addresses. The only way 2nd would get cancelled is if they are comparing browser id (I was too lazy to clear mine between orders)
