The Offer
- Spend $150 online anywhere in the US that Paypal is accepted during the month of November and you may receive a mystery award of $10, $15, $25 or $100. The reward will be applied to your next Paypal purchase in December.
- Odds of winning are better than 1 in 2 (around 53%).
You can register for this offer at the above link when logged into your Paypal account and you’ll hopefully see a message confirming registration.
I didn’t get the email invitation for this offer and my account was still able to be registered (as per the above screenshot). Some others who didn’t get the invitation are getting a rejeciton response when trying to register.
The Fine Print
- Excluded transactions from the Offer include but are not limited to the following: gift certificate payments (i.e. if you buy something on eBay and pay with an eBay gift card), purchases of gift cards, send money transactions, and PayPal Extras MasterCard/eBay MasterCard payments not made through your PayPal account.
- Award will be sent to you no later than 12/9/15.
- Award cannot be withdrawn from your PayPal account like cash and it must be used no later than December 31, 2015.
- You can also participate without any Paypal purchases by doing the following: Hand print your name, address, city, state, ZIP code, date of birth, email address (associated with your PayPal account) and daytime telephone number on a 3” X 5” card, and mail it, in an envelope with postage affixed, to: PayPal Mystery Rewards Offer, P. O. Box 832, Plainview, NY 11803-0832. Mail-in requests must be received by November 30, 2015 in order to be eligible.
The Odds
Odds of receiving the awards are as follows:
- $10 award: 1 in 2.
- $15 award: 1 in 50.
- $25 award: 1 in 134.
- $100 award: 1 in 400.
Our Verdict
Lots of fine print there, although it may not all be enforced; I got a $10 reward for a similar previous offer in August and I’m pretty sure it was triggered by gift card purchases as I don’t see any non-gift card purchases on those dates.
In any case, it’s probably not worth thinking about too much; just try registering for the offer and hope for the best.
