[Cap Hit] Purchase Up To $700 In Coins From The U.S. Mint & Make $100 Profit

APMEX has hit their cap and you can no longer register to partake in this guaranteed profit deal. You can still buy the coins, but won’t be able to sell to APMEX for guaranteed profit.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • The U.S. Mint in conjunction with the Royal Canadian Mint is launching the ‘Pride Of Two Nations’ coins on July 3rd. Reputable coin purchase APMEX is offering to purchase these coins for $159.95 per set ($20 over the listing price). You can purchase a total of 5 sets of this coin for a total profit of $20

The Fine Print

  • We can only extend this offer to customers using a shipping address in the United States.
    • We will pay $159.95 per set, with a limit of 5 sets per household (for a maximum possible total of $799.75 per household). This payment will be the same regardless of which U.S. Mint shipping method you choose.
  • With APMEX Logistics, you receive discounted shipping rates to sell to us through our exclusive UPS partnership. However, through this special offer, we are completely covering your shipping costs when selling back to us. The only shipping you are responsible for is from the U.S. Mint to your door.
  • Each package you receive from the U.S. Mint must remain unopened in order for you to receive your payment from APMEX.
  • In order for your package to be fully insured during transit, you must follow all packing instructions and shipping instructions. This includes double-boxing your unopened U.S. Mint package.
  • APMEX is not responsible for any carrier delays.
    • Includes but is not limited to: Weather delays, mechanical delays and other delivery exceptions.
  • If we fail to process your payment by the next business day, we will send you a $10 voucher to use on a future APMEX.com purchase.

Our Verdict

These deals are a nice way to meet minimum spend requirements and make some good profit along the way. APMEX is also covering shipping so you get to keep the full $100 profit. This deal will sell out quickly when it goes live, so make sure you have everything set up and ready to go before the coins go on sale.

You also need to reserve your spot to sell to APMEX, please only do this if you actually intend to sell your coins to APMEX. As far as I know this is the best deal that is being offered on these coins, but local buyers/sellers might be offering more.

What churning year is it? 2012?

AmexJunky

I wouldn’t trust APMEX. The last time I tried trading my coins, they claimed they didn’t receive my package, so I lost my coins and my payment.

they have insurance for your package. You can file a claim if lost.

Honestly, with a mintage of only 100,000 coins, a purchaser would do much better by waiting to sell for a year or two. Thanks what I intend to do if fortunate enough to get a set or two. Thanks Doc.

Hmm, how do similar coin sets fare down the road ? Personally, I am not excited about such coin sets and there are a lot of them. Just because something is rare does not mean it is worth anything.

Here is the last one Doc posted about. I believe, and you will see in the comments, that many ended up not selling to the club and making a higher profit elsewhere.

New to this.
So, any past experiences if this company is really trustworthy and liquid (don’t want to end up holding the bag (of coins 😉 )?

Also, anyone know how long it takes to receive the coins from the US mint?
(since I’m out of the country for a while starting mid-July)

This is of the biggest metals dealers on the internet, they’re the real deal.

Emporio

APMEX is THE premier coin and precious metal clearinghouse in the US. This is as legit as it gets. I have had great experiences with them. On the other hand, I would steer clear of the PFS Buyers club which offers similar deals but is an amateurish operation. You’re taking some more risks by sending PFS your coins.

Max
Max

PFS made things simple too, they just pay A LOT less, which is disheartening. They are able to handle a massive amount of orders and automate things pretty well, so i’m not sure it’s so fair to call them completely amateurish. I used them last time and everything was smoothe

How long to receive coins from the mint? Same travel issue as Jay above.

Thank you all. Love this community…

I sold to APMEX this year, they are legit. They mailed the check the same day they received the items.

Regarding the shipping – on other items it looks like there are various shipping options with the cheapest one being 1-2 weeks ($4.95) and the most expensive being next day for $21. It looks like we are on the hook for the shipping so this is at most a $95.05 moneymaker but if you need it ASAP you could pay a bit more to meet your needs and still make about $80.

Matt
Matt

I paid for the $4.95 shipping… hope that doesn’t affect APMEX’s willingness to buy my coins.

Most of the replies to this comment seem fake like from employees from their company. I’m still not convinced this company is legit

Is anyone familiar with using an AMEX to purchase coins from the US Mint? Have you had it get coded as a cash advance?

This seems more like MS or Ad category than Deal. The key is that you’re reselling it for profit.

YoniPDX

Uncle Sam considers precious metals even if a collectors item and PMs (even us currency) are a capital gains item.

Found out the hard way during the insane MS Bing search engine promo that was earning upto 25% CB on e-Bay about 12-13 years ago.

While capital gains if you do a few of this a year are under $1K, risk is small but penalties can be astronomical.

Betelgeuse
Betelgeuse

What penalties? Do you mean if you forgot to include it in your tax return?

DB

Anyone else planning to keep at least one for themselves? I feel like if Apmex willing to pay us $20 more it should have an even higher value on the market later on

ItsaMeMario
ItsaMeMario

Coin markets are weird, especially for modern “rare” coins (which are only “rare” by design). Just because someone can make an easy profit on it, doesn’t mean you can.

Its a low-regulation, low-volume market for items that sell far above their objective commodity value. If you want to gamble, go for it, but its not a real investment if you aren’t putting time/marketing into making the current hot and “rare” item seem like its worth it.

Emporio

US Mint Director David J. Ryder autographed a limited number of the COAs. If you get one of those coins with an autographed Certificate of Authenticity, I would list it on ebay as an extremely rare version of a very sought after coin.

qmc

Except if you do this deal, you can’t open the box to find that out.

Aloha808

You can make a better profit selling these on Ebay, but it takes a lot more work.

Or you can lose.
$140 coin with $30 worth of metal and 100K mintage is not a sure thing imho

I already see coins are listed on ebay starting $170 including shipping charges.

Rusty

What am I missing? Why would people not buy the coins directly from the US Mint at $139.95?

Kyle

Maybe they have eBay bucks to spend as the quarterly ones just went out today. Maybe they’re weird. Maybe they don’t know about the US mint site for some reason. Who knows what people do?

sunnyside

does anyone know if using credit card for payment will cause cash Adv issue when purchasing gold or sliver coins/bar from APMEX?

Mike L
Mike L

You’re not purchasing it from APMEX, you’re purchasing it from the mint and selling it to APMEX. And no, I do not believe that purchases from the mint have ever counted as a cash advance. If it gives you peace of mind, you can call your CC issuer and have them set the cash advance limit to $0-$100 before you make the purchase.

you are right. thanks

Can’t I just keep the coins and not resell to them?

ItsaMeMario
ItsaMeMario

Of course you can buy a thing and then keep it.

It’s on this website because you can be guaranteed to sell it at a higher price than it costs before actually buying it. Its a guaranteed moneymaker plus MS.

Jeff

Thanks but I can’t get to the APMEX site, says it’s down.

ItsaMeMario

You do not need to register with APMEX to buy coins from the US Mint. You only need to register to be guaranteed a higher selling price than they cost. If you just want the coins, just buy them from the US Mint: https://catalog.usmint.gov/pride-of-two-nations-2019-limited-edition-two-coin-set-19XB.html?cgid=null&q=pride&navid=search#q=pride&start=1

You will get way more money selling your 5 coin sets on ebay. I issued the same warning with the Palladium coins. People lost out on $500+ by selling their palladium coin to PFS who then flipped it on ebay. The reason this coin set is valuable is because it has a special reverse proof silver eagle that is only sold in this set, and there will only be 100k of those eagles produced

lilurbanachiever
lilurbanachiever

Interesting. Maybe I will do more research after all. Let’s see how fast it will sell out from the Mint).

Denis
Denis

that palladium coin deal was a killer, but the next PFS deal (Apollo coins) was not. 5 oz saucer and Kennedy set had a good resale value, but a gold one and other Apollo coins are likely a loss.

Grasshopper
Grasshopper

You are referring to the 2011 25th Anniversary Silver Eagle set containing 2 eagle varieties with mintages of 100,000, the remaining 3 coins with high mintages typical of the series. This set, originally priced at $299.95, sold out in less than 5 hours and was selling on Ebay later that same year for $700-$800. The lowest set price in original box is currently listed on Ebay for $525, 8 years after issuance. Remember that silver was selling at a 30 year high in 2011. Anytime a company like APMEX (the smart money) is interested in offering an early premium for coins they know will be in demand but cannot purchase themselves (limit 5 per household), it’s worth putting this situation in a historical context and asking why should anyone be in a hurry to sell these coins to them for a mere $20 extra per set. A bird in the hand…yes, but remember they are the smart money which makes those that sell early to them the…

I still have an unopened from mint box of the 2011 25th Anniversary set. I occasionally wonder if it I should have it graded or whether I should list it on Ebay.

Dan
Dan

just dont open it. if you have it graded, you can send into pcgs unopened and it can get all the early release designations. I dont believe ngc allows this kind of back dated early release designation even on unopened mint boxes. so regardless if you send it in for grading or sell it on ebay, it will retain greatest value if you keep it unopened.

Denis
Denis

It’s a lottery. If your coin is graded pf70 you can make more profit but the chance to get 70 is not high.
69 is unlikely to increase the value

churnchurnchurning
churnchurnchurning

100,000 is pretty high mintage for a modern coin that will never be circulated…
