Q2 Hotel Promotions: Hilton, IHG, Marriott, SPG & Choice [SPG Crossover Rewards Added]

Update: SPG has added crossover rewards with Delta. You’ll earn SPG points + 2 Delta miles per $1 spent on SPG stays. Keep in mind this is targeted Hat tip to reader Spenny.

Hilton

No direct link, to be launched next week via VFTW

  • Earn double points on all stays from May 1st until August 31st, 2018.

Choice

Direct link to offer via Frequent Miler

  • Stay two separate times between April 2nd and May 25th and get 8,000 Choice points. This can be done multiple times, keep in mind it excludes rooms that are less than $40 per night.

Not a bad promotion, they say 8,000 points is enough for a free night and that’s true but not all properties are 8,000 points so just keep that in mind.

IHG

Direct link to offer

  • IHG’s Accelerate promotion for Q2 of 2018 is now live. You’ll receive bonus IHG points for completing different requirements, you’ll also receive an additional bonus for completing a set number of the tasks

Marriott

Direct link to offer via VFTW

  • Earn 750 points per night, starting with your third night during the promotional period. Up to a maximum of 36,000 points.
    • Register by June 30th
    • For stays April 16th through July 20th, 2018

Pretty terrible bonus if you ask me, especially as you need to stay two nights before earning anything. I’ll still register, it just won’t have any influence on my booking behavior.

Starwood Preferred Guest

Direct link to offer via VFTW

Same as the Marriott bonus above basically. It should really be two nights across both SPG/Marriott before you start earning rather than two in each program but whatever.

Our Verdict

We did a similar post last quarter and readers seemed to prefer it to having an individual post on each hotel chain. Personally I prefer reading it this way as I can just register for multiple promotions at once so I don’t have to worry about doing it when booking. I’ll add other chains as they release their promotions.

I like the post this way. You are right it is much easier to bookmark and check before I book a hotel using hotel.com

Am I the only one who thinks this is incredibly underwhelming from SPG/Marriott?

Maybe I’m just taking it personally because I’m about to be staying at spg/Marriott for the next 2 months.

Why do you think you’re the only one? Doc literally said in his post that it was a terrible promotion.

Like the current Marriott promotion this one is saying that I am ineligible. I was able to call in to Marriott Rewards last time and have it added manually and it looks like I’ll be doing that again.

Awful Marriott offer. As someone who makes a lot of 1 night stays in cheapo Marriott’s the bigger Megabonuses are great

Can I combine promotion? Like book Choice for this promotion while earn United MileagePlus mile (750 miles per stay)?

But its not the same Hilton promo, this time no minimum stay requirement, THATS HUGE if yourve been hopping properties everyday for the last 110 nights.

If its straight double the points then why do you need to hop properties unless you want to accelerate to get higher status.

I see, you may be comparing Q2 to Q1 promotion.

DoC sez: “This is the same promotion they are currently running, not particularly exciting.”

No, Hilton’s Q2 promo (earn 2X) is NOT the same as their current (Q1) promo (earn 2K points per stay + 10K points after 5th stay) — big difference.

2X, which can be huge for pricey extended stays, is 2X and always exciting, especially with no minimum stay requirement.

I got literally the EXACT same offer as Q1. Which is weird because one of them was “download the app for 500 points” which i already did for q1.

Curious if anyone else also got the same…

ur talking about IHG right? my Q1 and Q2 are EXACTLY the same shit. max at 30k pts. total BS. im sure its a glitch. I emailed them to change it. the tasks arent the problem. the max pts at 30k is where im pissed. everyone else is getting like 50k or 75k even 100k+.

Got a targeted IHG mailer today to “earn 6,000 bonus points on your next stay.” The registration is at ihgrewardsclub.com/bonusoffer6k. I noticed that ihgrewardsclub.com/bonusoffer10k pulls up a registration page, too, but I could not register.

If you don’t pay for a lot of IHG hotels, you may get a very lucrative Accelerate promo. My wife and I hardly buy any rooms from them — we redeem points — but last fall we did a 55K bonus in my wife’s account that required only 4 nights. I now have a similar promo in my account for 75K points. With these generous bonuses, we make sure to buy the necessary room nights from them (trying to select good value hotels that fit our travel plans). Hopefully, when we resume NOT buying rooms again, we’ll get similar new Accelerate bonus offers!

What are IHG points worth? What do typical mid-range accommodation award bookings cost? Any ways to convert IHG points into air miles efficiently?

We should be hearing of the next iteration of IHG’s point breaks list very soon too. (going forward)

Awesome post. I would check this regularly. And yes all hotel chains in one post makes sense. I stay in spg 3 nights a week and do a round trip by Delta every week.
I had already signed up for the spg promo offering 250 points. But was not eligible for this spg delta crossover. I do however have the normal spg delta crossover earning 1 SkyMiles per $ spent in spg.
I have heard this crossover will be going away as spg and Marriott merge their loyalty programs. Was disappointed to hear that mainly because a Platinum in spg would have earned platinum like benefits in Delta.
