Raise Promotions for Buyers and Sellers

The Offer

Raise.com is currently running two promotions which are great for buyers of gift cards and resellers (there may even be an arbitrage opportunity if you look hard enough, but I wouldn’t bother).

For new customers there is a promo (NEWRAISE25) for $5 off your first $25+ purchase. This is better than their usual $5 off $75 purchase.

For sellers they are reducing their commission rate by 5% by using promo code (SELLAF10). This means the commission rate for non bulk sellers is 10%  with this promotion versus the usual 15%. That could be helpful in selling some gift cards you may have acquired via EBay or Amex Offers.

Raise.com is actually one of my favorite gift card reselling sites (maybe because they are one of the few site that accepted me as a bulk seller). All cards listed on Raise are by resellers which set their own prices and Raise charges the sellers a commission rate, essentially an Ebay for gift cards and the best part is you don’t need to deal with the unreliable PayPal.

For more information on anything having to do with reselling Gift Cards, definetly check out fellow DoC writer, Chuck’s Reselling Guide.

The Fine Print

  • $5 off $25 purchase for new customers use promo code: NEWRAISE25 (Ends 6/21/15) Entered at checkout.
  • 5% discount for selling gift cards use promo code: SELLAF10 (Ends 7/12/15) Entered when listing.
    • Normal reseller commision rate is 15% for non-bulk sellers, this promotion reduces it to 10% which is much more competitve and can help in reselling some of those discounted gift cards you may have lying around or purchased recently.
      • Example: If you sell your $100 gift card on Raise at a 10% discount ($90) you will receive $81 (81% = 90% x $90) with the promotional 5% discount. Otherwise without the promotion you would have received $76.5 with the normal 15% commision rate for non-bulk sellers.

Tip

  • Don’t forget to use TopCashBack portal when buying (2%) or selling gift cards ($1.5 per card listed per time)
    • I have had good successful with TopCashBack tracking for listing my cards for resale by only listing 1 at a time and waiting for the confirmation email from TopCashBack before listing the next card, but YMMV. Yes this is painstaking, but profitable process.
    • For more info regarding Raise and the TopCashBack portal check out our previous post here.

Receive $5 from Raise.com for signing up after your first purchase for using the referral link below. I will receive $5 as well for you signup, which is greatly appreciated. That means if you partake in the $5 off $25 first purchase and $5 back you will net $10 for a $25 purchase.

Our Verdict

This is a great deal for new customers and gives up to a 20% discount on your first purchase. I have been a customer and bulk seller with Raise for a couple months now and have had only great experiences with them. This is one of the better promotions they have offered and I would partake in both promotion if I didn’t already have a long standing relationship with them. If you have any questions regarding Raise and their program feel free to email me, DM me, or leave a comment below.

“SELLAF10”- “Promotion is not eligible to be applied”, I never applied to be bulk seller with Raise, still its not working.

Ok researched it myself, “SELLAF10” is for NEW customers only.

How long does it normally take for you to receive the TopCashBack email? Also, do you still receive the $1.50 per card if you’ve surpassed the $1,000 limit for cash back? Thanks for posting these codes. I can also confirm that they do not work for bulk sellers.

I get email confirmations in 6-10 hrs on average. I have not surpassed $1000 CB yet from TCB, so I can’t confirm the limit (that would be 666 cards listed).

The $1,000 limit isn’t on CB, it’s on purchases. TCP states “After you have placed over $1,000 in lifetime purchases on Raise.com, you will no longer be eligible for cash back.” I have purchased several thousands of dollars of Amex Gift Cards through TCP, but I wasn’t sure if this would keep me from receiving the $1.50 per card or only the 1-2% cash back. I’ll test it out and see if I have any luck.

bad tracking, yes, but horrendous customer service? Just yesterday I got a message from an Expedia purchase I was waiting to track for since December. Seems like they went out of their way to get me my $5. I had written that off already but they got me my money…

The limit of $1000 in lifetime purchases is only for Raise.com. So whatever you bought in Amex Gift Cards has nothing to do with this limit of Total Cash Back. You will earn $1.5/sell on Raise as long as your Total Cash Back account doesn’t say purchase over $1000 from Raise as a separate vendor.

Caution- $1.5 seem to be given for sell of card whose worth is over $25 in denominations.

MH, can you fill me in on how to make a profit on Raise when they charge 15% commission? I looked at the going rates for some gas cards and they are some 5 %points nicer than what the gift card selling sites pay, but as soon as I deduct 15% commission I end up way below what I’d get from the reselling sites… What am I missing here? AFAICS even 10% commission would be a bummer and not worth making any deal there.

The bulk rates may or may not be better than 15%, depends on which. The 10% is actually better than some of the bulk rates. You just have to find the right brands. 🙂

Completely agree with that, but it seems you can’t use the code on the bulk account.

I have only sold a couple gas cards via raise (they charge a $1 fee for shipping and labelling) so gas cards aren’t best with them. But as a bulk seller some rates are negotiable, which can help if you do good volume.

Loved Raise. Can bulk seller also benefit from the listing promotion or not? Some commissions are worse than 10% for bulk seller as well.

Darn, that’s too bad. I agree, a lot of the bulk rates are worse than 10%, so I haven’t been selling much through them since I’ve found that I could get more selling elsewhere.
