Recap: China To Block VPN’s, Giving Up On Drop & More

  • Giving up on Drop? Unlink your accounts! by Freequent Flyer Book. Will be interesting to see what happens with Drop, especially for those owed $100’s. I’ll have more on that soon but for now if you’ve given up using it make sure to unlink your accounts.
  • China moves to block internet VPNs from 2018 by The Guardian. Surprised China hasn’t made this move sooner, seems silly to have a firewall and then allow VPN’s to easily bypass it.

“China moves to block internet VPNs from 2018”
No. See https://nextshark.com/no-china-not-banning-personal-vpns/

It would indeed be silly if the goal was to actually block access. From the day the PRC opened up, 39 years ago, their policy has always been neither outright ban nor outright free access, but highly selective enforcement. The internet is no exception to this. Allowing the use of personal VPNs is in fact one of the ways they implement this policy.

William — I wonder if FoundersCard is worth it or not? I have received an email from them to sign up using a code that would lock in the rates at 295/ year if I signup and pre-pay for 2 years now.

Any ideas?

Sigh passports shouldn’t exist anyway. Let people move freely. They exist because of racist reasons (not because of economic or crime reasons, as immigrants help economies and commit less crime than natives). They’re the ultimate codification of racism into law.

Thanks for the comedic relief, bub! You’re a racist, plain and simple. See, I don’t need to give any substance either!

Those giving up on drop should also leave appropriate reviews in the related App Store as part of the process.
