Recap: eBay Gift Card Arbitrage, Argentina Visa Reciprocity & Travel Map

  • No, Argentina will not reimburse your reciprocity fee by The Winglet. I dunno why people thought the reciprocity fee ending made them think they would be eligible for a refund, but guess what? You’re not eligible now unless you were eligible before this fee ending came about.
  • Well That Changed My Travel Map! by Rapid Travel Chai. Sure beats my list of countries! I’d be interested to see his top 5 lists and why, although it did break my heart a little when I found out Indonesia was his least favorite.

I guess I will need to write up my Indonesia experiences someday. I figure it is a decent place to live, a decent place to travel if you go one place and plop yourself down, though another thing to take on ambitious itineraries.

Thanks for the link Doc!

I managed to add the customizable assumptions last night and plan to add more features soon. If anyone notices any problems or has additional feature requests, feel free to email me at [email protected]

Noah – nice tool! Bookmarked it. What is your refresh rate to grab the rates from the reseller sites? I notice you currently have the correct rate for Speedway at 88.5% SaveYa while gift card wiki has said 88% all day but ABC is actually at 86% right now. I got burned a little (a couple 2%) by relying on GCW there as I just sold at 86%. You are correct on this one so I’ll be checking your page first currently.

I only wish there were some new GC options today, all the ones during this 10% were also around during last week’s 8% and I bought many of them then.

Thanks for checking it out!

I pull the exchange rates for SaveYa/ABC every time I pull the new cards from ebay which is currently on a 15 minute cycle. This rate may change in the future though. If you scroll all of the way to the bottom of the page you can see exactly when all of the data was pulled.

Another potential user entry field: Shipping loss for Physical GC reselling. I personally assume about 1% as I like to ship ~600$ of cards in $6.45 flat rate USPS and not assume more lost package risk by putting more into each package, though I’ve gone up to 900.

DOC, I recently signed up for eBay and PayPal after seeing how profitable selling and reselling gift cards could be. However, PayPal has significantly limited my buying of gift cards. I spoke to 7 different agents over the past few days and the answer from all of them was, “Sorry, there’s nothing we can do.” I’ve verified my CC and my bank account, as well as answering verification questions with them over the phone.

Do you have any tips on anything else I could do? PayPal consistently denies me when trying to buy on eBay and even if I don’t checkout with PayPal I am still denied because all CCs are processed through PayPal. This has been frustrating to say the least.

I think newer Paypal accounts are more limited. I don’t know any great strategy, I used to have these problems too more often, and we all get them sometimes.

Are you shipping to a confirmed Paypal address?

I don’t think I’ve verified my address. I wasn’t aware that could be done but I will do that now. Thank you

When you add a credit card, the billing address becomes verified.

Helps to add a bank account also.
