Dear Mr. Enough,
Supporting the reuniting of families separated by conflict is not a “political view.” I am a board member of Miles4Migrants, as well as a contributor. I recently had the privilege of using 120,000 AA miles to fly an Afghan man from Belgium to Islamabad to pick up his wife and children (the youngest of whom he had never met), and for them to return to BRU. “Mahmoud” had to flee Afghanistan because he had helped American armed forces there, and the Taliban had threatened his life — and had killed his father. The incredible heartbreak that families such as his have suffered inspires me to want to do even more to help those who are suffering so terribly.
I cannot imagine someone so callous as to think that what Miles4Migrants is doing is somehow “political.” We are also not a “scam.” We have no employees. Our administrative expenses, to this point, amount to a few bucks on website hosting (and, so far, we’ve paid those out of our own pockets) Those of us on the Board of Directors not only get no pay, we have all contributed substantial amounts of money and miles to assist in the effort. Any monetary donations we receive go directly towards paying taxes and fees on the airfares we use to unite families.
Mr. Booth,
How do you respond to this:
http://blog.aaronsleazy.com/index.php/2017/06/17/miles4migrants-is-a-criminal-conspiracy/
Try to do it in the constructive way (no name calling and no hate labels).
Mr. Horace,
That post appears to be 70% name calling and hate labels (e.g., “Fucking morons! They feel good about all the alleged good they commit. Their supporters make me puke”) and 30% polemic.
Let the DoC public know which sentences you think are worth responding to and maybe someone will give it a go.
Horace, I don’t think that blog post is deserving of a response. Best regards.
One thing about the internet: It empowers regular people and the kooks at the same time! That article was something. What that thing is I’m not sure, but it wasn’t dignified, coherent, or objective.
Waded through the muck of your article, Horace and didn’t see an actual accusation of a crime, so it’s really just clickbait garbage.
Hi William,
I like your website, but the references to “Miles4Mirgrants” really degrade it. Let’s keep it business and not promote any political views, especially in light of what happened in New York yesterday – another “refugee” killed eight innocent people. Refugee contractors, like Miles4Refugees are scam.
#1: I’m not sure you realize that M4M is not a political organization that is trying to lobby for refugees to be taken in to the US. They are merely set up to help reunite displaced families who couldn’t have afforded to do so otherwise.
#2 What is the “scam” here? Where are the so called “contracts” ?
Take your tinfoil hat off and quit the pseudo-patriot rhetoric.
+1
AmeriKop45,
Could not make a comment without the insult?
Read the post carefully. Refugee contractors are a big business https://capitalresearch.org/article/refugee-resettlement-the-lucrative-business-of-serving-immigrants/
No, I couldn’t have made a comment without an insult where the insult is deserving.
I have no doubt there are refugee contractors out there. Maybe your comprehension skills failed you here, but within the context of my response, it is clear I was talking about M4M and the allegations of it being a refugee contractor. Not the refugee contractor business niche as a whole.
Did you actually bother to research miles4migrants, or did you just react based on the word migrant? I’d recommend you actually do some research before posting ignorant comments like this.
If you don’t like the content on this blog, you’re welcome not to read it.
Thank you for this response William! Love this blog!
I personally donated miles on two different occasions to reunite families as well. If you took just one minute to read what M4M does for NPOs in the countries needing our help, you would go back to your entitled hole you climbed out of. These points are all about you you you. Instead take a minute to self-reflect in how fortunate we all are to have the ability to do this hobby. The ability to drive home and see our siblings and our families whenever we want. To have the opportunities we have on any given day.
Now take a second and step out of those shoes and imagine how difficult it would be for a Father to be away from his children or to never EVER hear that child’s voice since the day he/she was born.
Maybe, just maybe, one day you’ll be fortunate enough to have children and understand that absolute and unconditional love for a child NO MATTER WHAT and realize that you will do anything to be with them.
Then maybe you’ll understand what M4M is all about.
That this idea is becoming less fringe makes it no less despicable.
Blaming one refugee for the actions of another is bigoted. Not helping those who need it because you are afraid is cowardly.
At least have the tiny amount of decency to sign your name when you write garbage like this, so people will know who you really are.
Hi Enough is Enough. I was going to respond to your comment by inviting you to go fuck yourself. Of course I saw the request from the site asking that we are kind and respectful to one another, so I won’t actually make that invitation. I was going to call you a mentally lazy individual, who can’t make the short leap that there is no connection between a persons immigration status and their propensity to commit a crime, but as we are being respectful I won’t do that. 5 out of 5 of the largest mass killings in this country in the last decade where perpetrated by US citizens (Sutherland Springs, Las Vegas, Pulse, Sandy Hook, Virginia Tech). If you are a thoughtful person, not prone to being easily swayed by racist dog whistle propaganda designed to appeal to your innate fear of people and cultures foreign to you, I’m sure you will quickly realize that reuniting families separated by conflict or crisis is a noble endeavor and worthy of EVERYONES support. Secondarily have you read the Miles4Migrants site? I’m sure you would see they fly family members all over the world, not just the US! Imagine! this whole other world out there! Anyway thank you for your feedback, I think I will apply for two aeroplan cards today, JUST TO GIVE 100% of the miles to this organization, and suggest that they fly Syrians to the US. PS I know you are not to chicken shit to actually sign your name, because I know you are not a closet racist piece of shit. Must have been a temporary lapse.
Daniel, your comment is clearly not respectful. Please learn to articulate your points without the name calling.
I apologize it is not in the spirit of the site. It clearly is a violation of the rules. I don’t know how to remove it, or I would.
Mr Enough,
Thank you for reminding me that without the directed effort of good people, the small minded can easily prevail. As a response I am applying for two Aeroplan cards specifically to donate 100% of the miles to Miles4Migrants so they can continue their humanitarian effort in earnest.
Thanks for mentioning Miles4Migrants! We’re esctatic with the community’s support in our first year and are looking forward to reuniting more families with pledged miles. Check out our success stories at http://miles4migrants.org/successes or pledge at http://miles4migrants.org/donate
