Recap: Product Change Team, Worst Tour Guide In The World & More

  • Worst Tour Guide in the World by Jetsetter Homestead. I generally hate organized tours like this due to that feeling of being cattle moved from stop to stop.
  • My Merrill+ “Approved In Error” Experience by Accounting Your Points. Surprised BofA is still doing this to be honest. If you’re going to go for the Merrill+ I’d recommend against combining applications and going for multiple cards.

Oh, Bank of America. No doubt their bureaucracy and outdated software, and overall poor institutional culture are all contributing to an inability to execute on a reasonable and orderly credit card application and customer maintenance process. Not shocking to be honest. We expect organizations like a Fortune 500 company to be well structured and organized but often times, this isn’t the case. Or in this case, perhaps just one part of their company is really this dysfunctional. Again, can you imagine being a credit analyst for these guys? No consistency of rules to determine eligibility. Can’t rely on the automatic approval system.

Again I get a kick out of how Bank of America won’t’ be honest about why they are denying people. They won’t tell us that we’ve had too many rewards and these promotions aren’t sustainable for some customers. Okay BofA, but if that’s how you’re going to roll, I guess you can’t expect transparency in return.

For those looking to exploit BofA for more cash, try their business cards. The business credit card process seems to be separate from the personal process.

I agree with the last sentence…I had my Merrill card “approved in error” but I got the biz card a month later no issue.

I agree with you about week long organized tours similar to herding cattle.

I prefer to arrive at a destination and then select special interest hourly guided tours when something is of historical interest.

Question regarding to Northwest bank bonus. If I have not attempted to trigger the second bonus, would I get that one? Should I do the second round DD immediately?

I hope the new Product Change team from AMEX resolves their issue of reps opening new card accounts when the cardmember calls to convert/upgrade an existing product. I’ve read MANY reports online for months where a person calls in to product change an existing account only to have the rep end up applying them for a new card (new account on credit report impacting 5/24) and then closing the old one. Perhaps this is a carry over from when AMEX used to backdate card accounts this would have been essentially non-impacting but ever since that change these product change failures are a big deal.

RE: My Merrill+ “Approved In Error”

Youre surprised BofA is still doing this? why? if abuse continues then closures continue. haha. right?

but im glad ur recommending against combining applications and going for multiple cards. this is a major factor to closure and more manual review.
