Mint going away kinda sucks; I liked it more than other budget-centric apps (such as Personal Capital). The Credit Karma site also notes “the new experience in Credit Karma does not offer the ability to set monthly and category budgets” which is a significant downgrade.
Most people recommend You Need A Budget (YNAB) as an alternative, but $100/year makes it one of the most expensive apps. Even the paid tiers at Mint were just $12/year or $60/year.
Other alternatives, like GoodBudget, PocketGuard, and Spendee—I haven’t tried yet and don’t know anyone who’s tried them out.
You gotta spend either time or money. If you want to spend time, use spreadsheets. They’re free and they’re forever.
