Uber expands settlement with FTC related to cyberattack by Reuters. Is this real life? Uber failed to properly secure personal data, they then paid attackers off and didn’t close the incident for a full year. This blows my mind. Data will continue to be breached at an alarming rate because the penalties for not properly securing this data are approximately 0. Keep in mind they are expanding the settlement they reached with the FTC for a 2014 data breach incident. I’m not sure I can express how stupid this is. This can’t be real life.
