Our Verdict
Not as good as last months promotion of spend $30, get $10 back. Last time it worked on gift cards, I expect that to be the case this time as well but YMMV. Link your Chase Freedom as that earns 5% cash back at Walgreens this quarter. Not sure when Retailmenot added these types of card linked offers, looks like you might need to use the app? Looks like Retailmenot also runs on the Empyr network.

The offer for me is $2 off $25, expires 9/4 (today is the first day I installed the app). There’s also a CVS $2 off $10, World Market $5 off $50, Kohl’s $5 off $40, Macys $5 off $50, Pier1 $5 off $30, Home Depot $5 off $75, and some others.
Stacked the Macy’s one with the WF gofar rewards 50% CB on up to $100.
Looks like a $5 Staples one stacked with the WF gofar rewards 50% CB up to $70 as well.

What you wrote is very unclear.
Are you trying to say you purchased a $500 Visa gc at Walgreens on 8/6 and 8/9 and received $5 from RMN each time?
What is a McDonalds VGC? What does McD have to do with this?

Yes I bought a Vanilla $500 vGC on the first event. August 9 was the day RTN credited my account. Only one purchase.
The second event was a typo. Only bought a $25.00 McDonalds variable price GC.
CVS purchase was organic..
August 6th. Bought $500.00 Vanilla vGC in Walgreens with registered Freedom card. RetailMeNot acknowledged the transaction inside ten minutes. So they are helping reduce the vGC net fee.
Purchased a $25 Amazon gift card and the $5 reward is showing as pending.
Where do I see the offer? TIA.
In the app, click on “Cash Back” at the top, click on “See all In-Store Cash Back offers”, and look for the Walgreens deal.

Hmmm, did that one post as Walgreen’s or Duane Reade on your Chase account? The time I tried at a DR the charge posted as DR and it didn’t count. But there are a couple Walgreen’s in NYC and those definitely work.
I don’t think the Empyr and other similar platforms have exclusivity across their vendors.
I have got cash back from RetailMeNot and Spent for a single transaction at Walgreens.
I have also got cashback from Dosh, RetailMeNot and Uber Visa Local offers for a single transaction at Sams club.
I have had very good success with RetailMeNot at various cash back merchants such as Home Depot and Kohl’s as well though no stacking in those cases.
The only other one I am curious about that i have not tried so far is Best Buy. Does anybody know if it works on Gift Cards. I have a feeling it might because it uses a QR code approach similar to Shopkick but don’t know for sure.However I don’t think it will stack with Shopkick.
I just signed up for a RMN account today and searched for Walgreen’s. I see a number of online offers, but do not see this $5 back on $25 promotion. Is this targeted or do you have to have an account already?

Anyone know if using Samsung pay (or apple pay for that matter) will mess up the retailmenot offer?
Seems these offers do not work with mobile payment? Tried once with Samsung pay but never posted.
It did not work for me when I used my chase freedom linked to Samsung pay. I tried again using my freedom card itself and got the pending notification from retailmenot immediately.
The Walgreens 10 for 30+ tracked buying VGC in-store on both accounts, but so far nada on the Staples 10 for 25+ buying MCGC online.
Any luck on Staples 10 for $25 in store? I also have $3 off $10 CVS in store, $10 off $100 for Home Depot in store, and $10 off 40 for kohls in store that I have not tried with gift cards expiring 8/15. Any luck for anyone else?
Thanks for the heads-up on those offers. Just bought $200 MCGC in-store at Staples. So far no notification in RMN. Will buy VGC in-store at CVS later tonight.
