[Expired] [YMMV] Safeway: 6x Fuel Points on Amazon Gift Cards

Deal has expired, view more Safeway deals by clicking here.

The Offer

Check your Safeway app/login for the following coupon:

  • Earn 6x rewards points when you purchase $50 or more in Amazon gift cards.

The Fine Print

  • Unlimited; limit 1 per transaction
  • Expires 11/9/19

Our Verdict

Sounds like you have to check out one gift card at a time, hopefully they have $500 Amazon gift cards to make it easier. Lots of people spend a ton on Amazon, and this is an easy way to juice up the rewards on the purchase.

There’s also a Visa gift card deal through the 9th.

Do you think this works for variable Amazon gift cards?

Yes it does. I bought 4 $250 gift cards today in separate transactions. Have $60 in rewards now.

Nice. How are you going to use all those rewards in 60 days? If it’s like Jewel, I only can redeem one type of reward per month (i.e. 7 rewards = $10 off grocery purchase). Hopefully you have a better option.

With Safeway/Vons, you can redeem $27 or $29 (I forget which) per month, and if you redeem for $7-off $7 or more of items from the meat section, that brings it up to ~$35, and you can redeem these once in month one and once in month two for a total of ~$70 before the rewards points expire. You can also use them on one-off items (free avocado, free cream cheese, free eggs), so you can even go a little higher than $70.

We have a similar structure at Jewel, though I can only use about 47 rewards in two months on just the money off. I couldn’t use 60 like the above poster had unless I went the route of eggs, cheese, etc. which I can usually find cheaper. I was sort of hoping there was a trick that I was missing 🙂

I already had rewards so I could only do $500 in AGC to max out most efficiently. Thanks for the comment.

Anyone know if you can split transaction at Safeway and if so how many times? Looking to do 4 cards.

EDIT: Didn’t notice it’s unlimited. In my case I just do 4 separate transactions and it should have 6x on all.

Hey DoC! I’m pretty sure this is targeted. 3 accounts and 0 for 3. Can you put that in the title?

Kinda weird, this offer is on some of my Vons cards, but not all of them.

I have “several” accounts, and i found that if an account has the 4 special $1 off coupons then it won’t have the Amazon coupon.

I think the 4 specials go out to people who don’t regularly buy things on that particular account, so that would mean that this Amazon offer is only going out to regular shoppers’ accounts.
