Clipped both the 10x points Happy Cards offer, and the $7.50 off Happy Student offer yesterday, and made sure both were loaded. Shopped before midnight last night, the Happy Student card cost $42.50, but only got 100 points (was expecting 500). Anybody else have the same issue?
Me too. I bought a $150 Happy Guy card and only got $15 off but not 10x points.
Did a Safeway run tonight, bought 2x$50 happy cards and paid $85 using gold (4 times MR), earned 10 reward points which can be redeemed for $20 off groceries. Took the happy cards to BBB and bought $50×2 gc, hopefully will get the $10×2 rebate. Ebates paid me $4. Net cost: $35~ for $100 gc.
And that’s just 1 round 😉
Wow, I stopped yesterday and got the $150 Happy Guy GC (because of Home Depot) and got $15 off + 1500 pts = 15 rewards = $30. I didn’t know about the BBB deal! Nice find!
You all know you don’t HAVE to spend the rewards just on gas right? I discovered this only this month and I’ve been a loyal Safeway shopper for over a decade. When you login to Justforyou on Safeway.com, if you go to rewards at the very top middle of the screen, it states:

I redeemed 10 rewards for $20 off my next grocery purchase of $20 or more. There are random ones for less rewards like free Egg Nog for 1 reward or 12 oz uncured bacon (Open Nature brand) for 4 rewards.
Yeah, I noticed these non-gas redemptions, too. I think they’re new.
Is there a way to use rewards on grocery purchase at Albertsons stores also, was not able to find it Thank you.
Safeway and Albertsons are the same rewards system now. I’ve successfully used the Safeway app/rewards in Albertsons, no problems.
This is the third time this week I signed up for a mediocre deal, not really intending to use it, and suddenly the deal got much sweeter! These overlapping supermarket deals are definitely worth keeping an eye out for. I wasn’t going to bother with the 15% off the Happy cards. But once you can also get 10x fuel and then take those Happy cards this week to BB&B and exchange them for another gift card while getting a $10 BB&B GC rebate, it became worth the trip to the supermarket tonight..
BTW, the $7.50 off $50 GC does come in cash, you don’t have to buy any groceries. And you get the 10x points off the $50, even though you only pay $42.50. I did 2 cards in separate transactions, just to make sure I’d earn all the gas points in my regular account (the website says 1 per transaction for the gas points (but unlimited use), although I kind of doubt that’s actually enforced.
Also, if you’re heading to Safeway, they have a free rotisserie chicken (normally $6-8) in the app.
A $100 gift card @ 10x points = $1 off/gallon at the pump. If you fill 20 gallons, this is equal to $20 off, plus you’re getting 10-15% off the Happy Card. Use Amex Gold for 4 pts/$ to make this an impossible to pass up deal!
Yea… most of us don’t have 20 gallon tanks, 2 vehicles, or a stash of gas cans in our trunk….
1000 pts is 10 rewards is $20 off more purchases though.
Yeah, my Armada has a 26 gallon tank and I usually fill it at around 20-22 gallons. There are other cash awards available in the app which get you around $2 per reward for those with smaller gas tanks. 🙂
I bought a stash of 5 gallon gas cans specifically to milk gas point deals at Safeway and Fred Meyer 😀 Each 1000 points is worth $35 for me
