Deal has expired, view more credit card bonuses by clicking here

Update 10/9/19: $50 survey bonus is no longer being offered.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Sakura is a reloadable Visa cad for new and aspiring business owners. You can currently get a $200 pre-loaded Visa card after signing up for a free Sakura account. They are also offering an additional $50 when you complete a small survey

Our Verdict

Signing up requires you to provide your SSN and photo ID. I wasn’t able to find a lot of information about Sakura, looks like Thomson Nguygen who worked at Square as the head of data science is involved, but crunchbase doesn’t have them listed so I’m not sure if they have raised venture capital money and if so, how much. Apparently it’s a soft pull to open as well? Personally I’m putting this in the too risky basket and won’t be participating in this offer until we have more information regarding Sakura.

I had totally forgotten about this thing, and a $200 check arrived today. Your timing could not be better, Sakura!

Emailed Sakura to ask if 1099 will be sent out. They said no, one won’t, because it’s considered a gift

Has anyone actually reloaded this card? How is this product actually making money? And who uses reloadable cards for actual use anyway

I paid tax with this on payusatax. But it didn’t work as debit, so I had to select credit and pay the higher fee.

Applied 10/9 with EIN instead of SSN, approved 10/25 but they asked for SSN verification and I provided it because I saw that the $200 had already posted to my account. Card came today.

I’m really wondering what sort of financial product this actually is. It seems like a shitty debit card without any real banking functionality attached, as the only apparent options are to load from bank and use the funds from the debit card. But then it also says something about “business line of credit”. What’s going on here?

It’s almost like they are reinventing the credit card?

I assume no 1099 issued for the $200 card, right?
