[Expired] Sakura: Reload Visa Card For Businesses – Sign Up & Get Up To $200

Deal has expired, view more credit card bonuses by clicking here

Update 10/9/19: $50 survey bonus is no longer being offered.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Sakura is a reloadable Visa cad for new and aspiring business owners. You can currently get a $200 pre-loaded Visa card after signing up for a free Sakura account. They are also offering an additional $50 when you complete a small survey

Our Verdict

Signing up requires you to provide your SSN and photo ID. I wasn’t able to find a lot of information about Sakura, looks like Thomson Nguygen who worked at Square as the head of data science is involved, but crunchbase doesn’t have them listed so I’m not sure if they have raised venture capital money and if so, how much. Apparently it’s a soft pull to open as well? Personally I’m putting this in the too risky basket and won’t be participating in this offer until we have more information regarding Sakura.

Hat tip to DDG

Does it count against 5/24? That could be a big obstacle for a bonus of that size.

Post says “apparently it’s a soft pull”

5/24 refers to credit lines not hard pulls. A prepaid card shouldn’t be reported to your credit report of course, but I wouldn’t count on that 100% on a small / new issuer like this.

Good to know! Yeah, it’s not at all “credit” so shouldn’t be credit line. But then details on site are sparse

I see 2 products: Reloadable Debit Card and Business Line of Credit (waitlist). Don’t recall ever seeing any reloadable debit card count against 5/24, but seen more than couple DPs of non-credit card personal credit lines counting against 5/24. Though those weren’t business, and my memory may be going. I was calling this card outer space Jumanji.

I know, right. But for this amount, I’m willing to roll the dice. Applied

Went ahead and applied. Pending, I declined to provide my bank statements as it was optional.

You mean linking your accounts via Plaid?

Yeah

Yes, but it’s optional like Dan said.

Please keep us posted. I’m not comfortable giving them my SSN given the lack of transparency in the company.

Will do

Full-time international students will be disqualified to apply as they card offer to “business people” only?

Burton

It says it is for new and aspiring business owners. That being said, if you do something for profit (outside of or in addition to a W2 job) you might have a small business and might be eligible for this or other business cards.

Applied, hopefully before they run out of money 😛

“Why is Sakura offering this?
We will offer a line of credit beginning in the fall and in the meantime we want to get a version of our cards in the hands of business owners. “

The debit card is provided by Sutton Bank.

Signed up.

If this is a scam (which I doubt), I give them a lot of credit for making the website look legit!

I’m planning on signing up with an EIN to protect my SSN. I highly suggest you do the same.

Did the same.

How easy is it to get an EIN? Any tax time implications?

IS250

Was there a field to enter your EIN? All I saw on the second page was the SSN field unless that’s where you entered your EIN.

Phill

I entered it in the SSN field. I guess they’ll contact me if they need the SSN.

I applied. Will let people know if and when I hear anything back.

Anyone know which credit agency they softpull?

Are we supposed to do the survey after we go pending? seems a bit unclear.

Phill
Phill

Yes…just go back and input the information they request during the survey. The survey will be attached to your name and email address that you used to sign up.

Can’t find it… It is probably no longer available.

The question is how to add money. No list of fees. Will wait.
