I don’t have a Samsung phone (or an Apple) but couldn’t find a Samsung Pay app. Is it Samsung Checkout?!
Anyone without a Samsung have this app?

Only for NFC enabled Samsung phones, mostly the higher end galaxy line.

The online part works on any Samsung phone, you just can’t pay at a terminal if it’s not an S series phone (S6+) or watch (S2+).

I’d like to buy $300-$400 of Hotels.com GCs at 85% (for an upcoming booking) — but use an iPhone and don’t have Samsung Pay. Any suggestions?

No solution. It’s sold out now anyway. Lucky people might have just purchased 2.

To be safe, don’t do it on US Bank Altitude even after you earned your SUB. They have been shutting down people for mobile app purchases, so this will not sit well with them.

This must be targeted, anyway. I just loaded my Samsung Pay offers and saw 5% at hotels dot com.

I also looked through the gift card section and – nothing.

Is there still a way to combine Hotels.com GCs? The site has been down for a while now.

Does this take a long time? I have 10-15 GCs I want to combine

It took more than a minute per card for me recently, just waiting for the processing, not including the time to provide card number. For a dozen cards, it’s a hassle. I hope Samsung Pay starts selling bigger denominations or hotels.com bring back the online tool

I just combined a dozen cards and it took more than 10 minutes. For every card, there was almost a minute wait before the processing was done. Very painful. Hope they bring back the online tool. I assume they had fraud/security issue with it.

The problem with hotels dot com always offering 10%-15% off deals… is that their rates are already marked up a good 10%-15% over a few of their competitors.

I’d have to see a 25% off deal to get excited about hotels dot com.

I haven’t seen this? The hotels I’ve looked at were always the same price.

I have no clue what you are talking about (generally they are in line). However, the BEST deals I’ve gotten have been when I used the price match to get really great deals with them plus GC discount and especially if I find it cheaper elsewhere..

Oh, and Samsung Pay has its own cash back that should stack for more.

Well, if price matching is easy, than I guess it’s still a good deal. I’ve not tried price matching with hotels dot com, because I’ve always just skipped them due to their markup/discount scheme.

A pet peeve of mine has always been companies that advertise discounts nearly equivalent to deliberately marked up prices. I don’t appreciate being treated as if I cannot add and subtract.

Which websites are cheaper than hotels dot com. Thanks

None. This guy is off his rocker and has no idea what he’s talking about. Hotels.com has the same prices as Expedia, Priceline, etc.

I discovered that Hotels.com was higher than they should be, back when Venture started advertising 10% off. So, I did the research and found it to be a Pyrrhic offer, since the rates were just about 10% higher than what can be found on other sites, to begin with.

If you think that all travel sites have the same prices, than you must not be doing very good research.

I have literally never encountered them being higher than any other site. If you search for hotels on google, they oftentimes just show the rates at each place and they’re more or less always the same. I even did a quick sample on google of 10 places, and they literally all had the same price except ZenHotels.com. You’re crazy.

Calling people “crazy” or “of their rocker” does not prove your point.

If you cannot find a better deal than hotels.com, nobody is going to spoonfeed you the information.

Just get better at research, and stop calling other people names due to your own ignorance.

No he is right. I have had the same experience multiple times.
To use a hotels.com gc, the payment has to go through hotels.com which adds the markup. I called them up on this and they tried to selk it as a benefit of prepaying. The low prices i found were for paying the hotel direct, and there i could not use the gc. Still have the gcs not used because of this.

When you go to pay the competitive price, see if it lets you pay with the gc. And report back please.

curious if anyone knows of any gc market anywhere that as yet accepts hotels.com gc’s again? (and why did they all stop re-selling them last fall? Was there a major problem with these gc’s?) Yes, I get it that these are still a good deal for those who actually use hotels.com. I thought that the last time I bought a few….. and have yet to find a good use for them.
