Cash Back on Gift Cards
Sears is offering a three-day promotion to payout portal rewards on gift cards, from 12/20/16 – 12/22/16.
This is being advertised explicitly on many portals such as Ebates, Givingassistant, Topcashback, Shopatehome, Mrrebates, etc. Mileage portals aren’t yet mentioning this promo explicitly.
Givingassistant offers 7% portal cashback Update: Givingassistant is actually just 3% on gift cards.
Ebates, Topcashback, Shopathome offer 6%. All options here. It might be worth sticking with a portal who mentions it clearly. (Upromise and Befrugal offer 6% or 7% but exclude gift cards. Yazing isn’t clear as to how much they’ll pay on gift cards.)
All the portals say that this gift card promotion is for three days, 12/20 – 12/22.

There’s currently an Amex Offer to get $10 off $50 at Sears, and the offer will work on Sears e-gift cards and reloads. Portals were working for reloads, but they stopped working earlier this month.
Under this three-day promotion, gift cards will earn portal rewards. That should include physical gift cards, e-gift cards, and reloads. But don’t buy physical cards with the Amex Offer since it won’t work to trigger the Amex credit, although it should work for the portal credit.
There’s also some resale potential since Sears gift cards are currently selling for up to 84%. That’s a 4% profit. Add this extra 6-7% from the portal and you’ll net 10-11% ($5 or $5.50) plus points on each Amex Offer, if all works out.
So it turns out it wasn’t so bad to delay after all. 🙂
