Offered year round. Football has nothing to do with it.
Ten Cent Tuesday is offered at many Shell stations regardless of having T-Mobile. I can get that at many Shell stations (not all() just for having the Shell Fuel Rewards card and filling on Tuesday. Contributes to Gold Status. Stackable with referral 25 cent per gallon reward. Can be done without any app.

Linking it to T-Mobile as exclusive T-Mobile is not correct and never has been. I never had T-Mobile.

Can be done with any credit card.

They list 10 states where it’s valid and then say it’s not valid in New Jersey. I guess that’s for people who think NJ is part of another state.

They’re specifying because Rutgers is in the Big Ten and is located in New Jersey, but they’re excluded from the promo.

It is the only state with a Big Ten football team that doesn’t qualify, the other 10 states do. They could list the other 38 states that don’t qualify as well if they really wanted.

Like everyone else, Shell is just recognizing that Rutgers has no business being in the Big 10

There’s some law against promotions and gasoline in NJ. You see this exclusion all the time with contests.

Ive had so many issues with Fuel Rewards. I go to Dunkin a lot and got a few of the 5-cent discounts, and in the app they appear to stack, but when I go to fill up, not all apply, and I get less than half off compared to what the app says I’m eligible for.

Then today though, I used the app, activated the pump, entered the code into the pump, and filled up, but no discount was applied to the per-gallon price. Then no email receipt or in-app receipt. Then looking at my credit card account, there is a pending charge for $0.00, rather than the typical $1 or $2. Maybe a small chance I got a free tank? Either way this program sucks IMHO

You should email them. I had problems a few weeks ago where the register wasn’t showing the $1.50 discount I was supposed to have from Stop & Shop points, it would seem to time out and then just offer 5c. I didn’t buy gas and emailed to complain. They got back to me and said that the station had been offline when I was trying to get gas and that the default in situations like that was to give 5c off. The apologized and gave me an extra 10c/gallon discount that I was able to use with the $1.50 and 5c I usually get.

Yeah I did at one point. This was their response to my issue with the app showing $0.30 discount, and the pump only subtracting $0.10 (or maybe $0.15, I forget):

“When reviewing your account, we see most of your rewards earned through the DD Perks promotion. Please keep in mind that these rewards can only be redeemed in 5¢/gal increments, to give you at least 10¢/gal discount on your gas purchases. As of right now, you have 15¢/gal earned from this promotion, but when you redeem at the pump, only 5¢/gal will be deducted.”

What makes no sense is, why doesn’t the app just take this into account and reflect the proper amount then?

I had that problem with the credit I was given for the Dunkin e-mail sent out in error outside New England. It didn’t credit against my first subsequent fill-up but did on my second.

And Delaware is excluded, even though it is in between two Big Ten states

Definitely can stack with Trunow App, GetUpside (if you refer your spouse you’ll get $.005 not much but still), and a credit card like Freedom 5%.

Along with what you mentioned – any others?

What’s Getupside?

Concur with Trunow not being worth it. They recently went from 1% to .5% rewards and didn’t notify anyone, or even update the app to reflect it for weeks. Website wasn’t updated months after when I checked. Then, they cut your rewards in half when you try to cashout to anything other than gas to their cherry picked gas stations, as I recall.

GetUpside is better than TruNow, but not yet on the west coast. East Coast, and Midwest last time I checked, but the gas stations do change.

Another quirky thing with TruNow is that you can only have up to 6 cards ever seen by the system or it will reject all receipts from any new cards.

LOL. Churners nightmare. Yeah, I really wanted to do trunow because it’s pretty much free money back… but they cut the percentage in half in February, literally when I started. When I complained because the app said 1%, they still wouldn’t make the adjustment to my rewards, I had enough.

And, their website today still says 1% for stations in my area, when they are only paying half. Been at least 6 months now since the change. Come on!

I mean, Trunow patrons, I guess if you buy a lot of gas every month and .25 to.5% is significant enough, go for it. But pretty sure any in store purchase will get squashed, so it’s only so good in actual gas money spent.

When I complained to Trunow about a receipt being rejected, they told me the limit was 8 cards. I told them I often use gift cards to pay for gas, so it’s not even possible for me to re-use the same card. They then said I could tell them which cards (last 4 digits) I want to keep active, and they’ll deactivate the others, so I can then use more cards again.
