Shipt (grocery delivery): 2 Weeks Free & $15 Off First Order + $15 Back On $49+ With Bank of America

Update 07/27/18: Reposting as there is also a Bank of America offer for another $15 back when you spend $49 for some customers.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Shipt is offering two weeks free and $15 off your first order

The Fine Print

  •  Recurring membership ($99 billed after trial)

Our Verdict

Shipt does same day delivery of groceries for Target. Minimum order is $35 for free delivery, otherwise you pay $7. When you order from Shipt you also get any promotions Target is running (e.g if it’s in the weekly ad, it will show the discounted price in the Shipt app). Good deal if you just use it for this, basically get 40% off when you spend $35+. Just remember to cancel so you don’t have to pay the $99 annual fee. Check your Bank of America accounts for a further $15 back when you spend $49+.

Please be aware that this is not working anymore. When you checkout it will charge you $49…. seems like they replace the promo with the blackfriday one

Unrelated to the offer, but interesting nonetheless:

I’m not sure if this has already been mentioned but Suntrust is also offering $10 cashback when you spend $49 or more at Shipt and pay with a SunTrust credit or debit card

doesn’t a referral “give $20, get $20” better than a $15 off?

No it doesn’t, because the referral requires a paid membership for the person being referred there is no trial.

If they want to keep it long term then sure, but a majority of people would really prefer the trial to see if they like the service and want to keep it long term.

The “Give $20, Get $20” only works for the annual membership too so they’d have to fork over $99, it may work on desktops for the 6 month plan at $49 but I can’t be sure since I’ve only tried it via my iPhone.

I live in Arlington, VA.

The provided code is unique, but the link is generic (shipt.com/offer).

I have had Shipt for almost a year. Meijer definitely is marked up in many products, but not on all of them. They markup can exceed 35% on occasion. In my experience, target is usually the same as in store. However, they don’t always list everything they have in the stores, but they do have a mechanism for “special requests,” but those don’t count towards the minimum spend $35 since they don’t have a price.

Since they added Target, my strategy is to do two orders for the same delivery if I need $70 worth of stuff by splitting it between Meijer and Target by getting the cheapest from either store on the items not marked up at Meijer or on sale etc. You do lose out on promo pricing / qty discounts etc.

There are two huge variables on orders: the first is Shipt doesn’t know if the store actually has the product in stock, so substations are common. Shipt also doesn’t know when stores like Meijer shelve things in crazy locations like frozen Purdue chicken being in 3 spots, or gluten free chocolate being in a bread aisle etc.

The other big variable is the quality of your shopper. I have had amazing shoppers, and then I have had shoppers that buy moldy produce, crush strawberries to leak in bags on accident, or get the entirely wrong product that looks similar.

On the bright side, customer service is great in issuing credits for wrong/damaged items. You have to request a refund to your credit card if you don’t want credit.

They do prorate refund annual fees if you don’t like it. Shoppers got bad enough I canceled 6 months in. 3 months later they asked me to come back for a year at $29. I am disappointed to hear they are only paying $7 to a driver for an hour of work, but I have heard you can shop multiple orders at the same time after some initial hire period. The shoppers have improved greatly recently in the Chicagoland area. Honestly, I don’t know how they profit without the 20-30% markup with the need to pay the shoppers. I guess it’s in the membership fee, but I have had credits for mistakes well in excess of the annual fee.

This service has been great since I have 2 toddlers and work two jobs, but the markup was getting pretty crazy before Target got added.

How can I check the prices before I sign up for the trial?

You can’t. I signed up under a different email just so I could get a look. It might be that your trial doesn’t start until the first order.

There was a $10 cashback offer for Shipt via Ibotta earlier this week, too. I don’t see it now, but maybe someone still has it or it’ll come back.

Currently they’ve still got 2% cashback for Shipt.

I’ve used shipt since the Amex deals earlier this year. And the pricing has gotten ridiculous. Pasta has went from 1.09 to 1.59 currently. The same item is 99 cents in store. Also deal with a handful of substitutes especially on sale items. That meat on sale for 2 bucks a pound quickly becomes 4 bucks a pound. The Whole Foods shipping via amex prime is beating them in price on most things. I probably won’t renew now that I can get Whole Foods with prime. Only worth dealing with if there are bonus offers.
