Silver Car Launches Loyalty Program (1 Point Per $1 Spent, Points Worth ~10¢)

Car rental service Silver Car has launched a loyalty program. Let’s take a look at the new program:

  • Earn 1 point per $1 spent (excluding taxes & fees)
  • Points expire after five years of inactivity
  • Enrollment is automatic
  • No loyalty tiers
  • Points seem to be worth around 10¢ per point

Personally I never use Silver Car as I rarely rent cars, but I know some people absolutely love them. This seems to be basically a 9-10% discount on future rentals.

William Charles I got an email offering 20% off an Audi Q5 rental with code TRYAQ5

Code can be used once, car must be returned by 10/31/19 and only works on the Q5. Might as well get a discount as well as points, plus I don’t think it requires a Visa Infinite to get the discount.

I like Silvercar. The cars are nice and with the Visa Infinite discount they’re competitive with other brands. Another thing I really like is using my Altitude Reserve card for them because when you pick up the car they charge a deposit that triggers the real time rewards credit, then when you return the car and the actual charge posts, that triggers the rewards credit again, allowing you to redeem points twice on the same transaction.

Just got 8 days in Seattle in mid September for $288 with promo code. I own an Audi though so I’m a bit partial toward silver car. Won’t rent with them if they’re overly expensive in comparison.

Lol 10¢ back per $1. Shows just how overpriced the service is

Have you actually did research and looked at it more than once? I will say The last time I booked in San Francisco the Q5 was $490 for 8 days. But about two months before I went I looked and they wanted like $1200 for the same days. That’s ridiculous but I’ve always got a good deal using the visa infinite code.

What is the visa infinite code? Thank you.

VISAINF20. If you use that code and pay with a visa infinite card (not sure if it’s only the chase reserve) you get 20% off. That usually makes them pretty comparable to other car rental places.

The code won’t help if you don’t use a Visa Infinite card, as far as I know. So Chase Sapphire Reserve, US Bank Altitude Reserve, City National Bank Crystal Visa, UBS Visa Infinite, Chase Ritz-Carlton card. There might be others that I’m not aware of too.

Who absolutely loves them besides affiliate marketers paid by the sign up? Show me these people. I think you’re reading too many top tier miles and points blogs

I absolutely love them. been using them exclusively over traditional rental cars, as the 20% off visa infinite discount makes the price comparable, and service and cars are significantly more premium.

Ummm I absolutely love them. I’ve used them in Denver twice and in San Francisco. My girlfriends used them about 10 times in Denver. The times we have used them it’s usually $4-7 more a day for them than what we would have rented and 70 percent of the time it’s for the Q5. In San Francisco they charge me $5 plus what ever tolls I ring up which is nice. I rented a car there once and the fees were ridiculous so I probably paid less in total than I would have with anyone else with a larger vehicle. That’s with 20% off for chase sapphire reserve card. What’s not to love?
