SoFi Adding $10 Monthly Fee For Some Credit Cardholders

SoFi has sent out an e-mail to some 2%/2.2% cardholders informing them that they will be charged a $10 monthly fee:

We want to let you know about an upcoming update to your SoFi Unlimited 2% Credit Card terms. Starting February 23, 2026, a $10 monthly fee will be added to your credit card account. This will help us continue to provide the benefits, protection, and service that our members expect from SoFi. Please contact us at SoFi.com, by chat or by calling us by February 23, 2026 if you would like to close your credit card account and avoid the $10 monthly fee.

Paying this fee doesn’t make a lot of sense as you could upgrade to SoFi Plus for $10 a month instead and then earn 2.2% on the card. Assuming if you upgrade this other $10 fee will not be charged.

Interestingly most cardholders have not received this e-mail and it will not affect everybody with customer service reps stating:

‘The fee is currently only affecting a small portion of our credit card users, but if affected an email update would have been sent.”

It’s unclear how SoFi is deciding who will have to pay this fee and who won’t.
