Deal has expired, view more SoFi Money deals by clicking here

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • SoFi Money has partnered with Lyft and will be offering 20% cash back on all Lyft rides until February 18th, 2019. Your SoFi Money debit card must be the default payment option to receive the 20% back.

The Fine Print

  • Valid until February 18th, 2020
  • Max of $1,000 back

Our Verdict

I suspect most readers already have a SoFi account from one of the various promotions they have offered. This is a great discount, especially considering the maximum cap is so high as well.

Has anyone used this?

I added my Sofi card and have it as my default but I don’t see any discount on Lyft.

Is this like amex offers where everything is handled by sofi in the background?

Looks like it’s done in the background and credited later.

“20% cash back is calculated using the quoted price for your Lyft rides only – it does not apply to other charges such as tips, cancellation fees, and other services such as rental and bike rides.”

“During the Promotion Period, SoFi Securities, Inc. will credit the cash back reimbursement into the participant’s SoFi Money account. Cash back reimbursements can be delayed by up to 14 business days.”

I thought so too but when I added my card originally, I swear I saw it listed under promos.

I think when I added my card to my wife’s account too that maybe it disabled the promotion.

That’s why I’m hoping for confirmation but I don’t see that anyone has actually used this yet?

Ask Bax. Said the credit only took a day.

It doesn’t appear to be targeted, and no household limit listed.

I see nothing about it in the SoFi app, but I did get the SoFi e-mail. Subj: Beep beep! Get 20% off Lyft rides with SoFi Money.

I don’t have the Lyft app. Never used it, or Uber.

Got the rebate credited within a day.

+1. Received two 20% credits (base fare + tip) despite the fine print, “20% cash back is calculated using the quoted price for your Lyft rides only – it does not apply to other charges such as tips”.

Would it stack with the x-percentage off promos sent out periodically by Lyft itself? I’m holding off on adding the Sofi debit card to Lyft, because…

I am not seeing this offer emailed to me or in the app. Can we assume this is safe to use even without being notified of it?

A potentially great offer, but if you have a world elite MC like the Citi Prestige, you get 10 bucks credit for every 5 rides, so if you spend an average of 10 or less per ride, the MC offer is better than 20% AND gives points/rewards on top. I would change my primary payment depending on how long/expensive each ride is projected. Use a world elite MC for 5 cheap rides and the sofi for the others, if you a regular Lyft user that is.

The problem with the World Elite credit is that the rides reset at the beginning of each month.

If it’s only valid until valid until February 18th, 2019 then it is useless! Are you sure that is the right date?

The image in the article shows that it ends 2/18/20 – just a typo by DoC obviously.
