Update 6/16/25: Back to $60/6,000 on Rakuten and 5,500 Ultimate Rewards (ht bobill3)
Update 5/20/25: Some people are seeing on Capital One Shopping – Blue Apron Get $85 back on purchases. I see this by going to the Events filter, and then finding Blue Apron. Hat tip to reader Techant
Update 5/5/25: Rakuten is increased further to $65/6,500 and Chase Freedom is increased further to 5,800.
Original Post 4/21/25:
There are two stackable deals for Blue Apron meal subscription signups:
- AmEx Offer and Citi Offer for $25 off $50; or Chase Offer for 15% back (up to $13.50 back).
- Shopping portal increased payout rates: Rakuten is at 6,000/$60 and Chase Freedom Ultimate Rewards is at 5,500. See all options here. (ht CorrectCombination11) You can also check what Capital One Shopping has to offer.
Looks like it might be possible to get a subscription starting at just $25. Or you can do a larger subscription if you want to meet the $50 spend threshold for the Amex Offer. Regardless, this can be a great time to try out Blue Apron and get the nice shopping portal intro offer. Just remember this is an ongoing subscription, see whether you like it and what to keep it before future charges post to your card.
Signed up 26-Apr with the Cap1 shopping $85 offer. $112.50 went eligible today (with no good GC options to use it).
05/21 – Rakuten order for 5k, prepared meals. Immediately pending.
05/30 – shipped out and charged to Citi AA and got $36 from 2 offers that stacked
06/09 – skipped week.
06/16 – originally tried to cancel the subscription, reorder using CapOne Shopping for $85, but this did not track. Another order shipped out charged to Chase for 15% cash back.
06/23 – another order shipped out charged to Citi AA for $12 cash back again. I also got $25 discount because they said to toss one of the meals in the last order due to plastic found in that specific meal (I ate it anyway, didn’t see anything suspicious)
06/30 – cancelled
07/03 – Rakuten no longer pending.
So I got about $56 in cash back, $25 credit of free food, and 5k MR (also triggered 7.5k MR welcome offer). Will retry cap one in a few weeks with fresh credentials
The “ineligible” line seems to be a tracking thing. The TopCashback Blue Apron offer page says this: “Subscription cashback is earned when customers receive an order for the first time in their subscription. Customer must be an active subscriber, meaning their account is not cancelled after 30 days of signing up.”
A new entry appeared in my COS history at some point after 30 days with the updated order amount (I didn’t check by the day, but it was soon after), expected to credit 3 months from signup.
Ordered back in late May through Chase, did not get any email notification about the purchase tracked until today. Thought it was not tracked and since I did not use a Chase card, was about to cancel the account early. It came as a pleasant surprise
Placed order on 5/20. Amex offer posted 5/23. Received box the following week. Skipped following 4 weeks of deliveries but kept account open. Cap1 said “ineligible” so I figured it wouldn’t hit. Received email 6/21 that Cap1 shopping was recorded ($85 rewards.)
Ditto with about the same timeline. Still have to wait two more months to be paid. Wonder if C1S will even be around by then and what kind of payout options it will provide.
Ordered on 4/22 with $85 offer from C1S. Got the same “Ineligible”. Sent a request to investigate. C1 said to inquire again after 90 days. I cancelled Blue Apron after 20 days. Only one order. At least I got $25 from Amex.
Has anyone successfully received the $85 from C1S after being determined to be ineligible? I just made a $59.92 order ($24 back on $50 or more from Citi & $12 back from Citi), so that’ll get me $36 back plus $85 from C1S if that goes through. Should get me $121 in rewards which makes it a $61.08 MM. To clarify I haven’t seen it track yet, but many reports of showing ineligible, so wanted to confirm while I still have the ability to cancel.
Same ineligible, but planning to sending customer support request after 30d have passed
A previous DP said they were ineligible at first and then were not. See Anthony’s comments
Same happened to me. After ~30days, it became eligible – posting end of month.
I’d also like to note that I kept the subscription active, but skipped all of my meals. I do this with all of the meal services and has worked out well for me. I just go back on every month and skip the meals for the month. I cancel when the rewards post on C1S
Thanks for the update. Also ineligible now and will be waiting it out. Appreciate the tip on the skipping. I like the meals but they get really expensive after the first order plus shipping.
So would you be able to do the first week free with Rakuten then cancel right after?
Yes, in my experience, the one initial delivery and then cancelling still has got me the bonus with Rakuten. Usually Rakuten will send the notification email that the cash back is on its way and show as pending, then I cancel after receiving the delivery. Can always take screenshots of your order information and then pictures of the delivery when it’s received if you’re worried
that’s what I am going to try. I tried to order a second one to my address with a different name and it wouldn’t let me. I tried again changing the address, slightly. Now granny is getting one delivered across the street!
What I do is skip the first few weeks after the very first then cancel after 2-3 skipped boxes just to be sure
Gobble also has a triple stack offer:
-Amex offer: spend 65$ get 25$
-Rakuten: 35$ cash back
-Gobble coupon: first 6 meals for 36$
Capital one shopping has Gobble at $60 Cashback… So this is now a money maker.
Can you repeat this in UR shopping portal? I did one back in April.
