The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Starbucks has brought back its popular Starbucks Bingo game. Everybody will receive a traditional Bingo board with each tile representing a task (e.g purchase a food item from Starbucks). You’ll then receive bonus stars for filing a tile and bonuses for completing a full row/column and a further bonus for completing the entire board. The maximum number of stars that can be earned will vary from individual to individual. It seems most people will receive 350-375 stars for filing the full board.

The Fine Print

  • Game will run from October 10th until October 31st, 2018.

Our Verdict

Looks hard to complete than previous years, but again it will depend on what your individual board looks like. Keep in mind you can usually complete two or more tasks with one purchase as well (e.g make a purchase on Tuesday and spend $x). A free item at Starbucks costs 125 stars (assuming you already have gold status, otherwise you need to earn 300 stars for gold status first). For Starbucks fans I’d recommend enrolling and having a look at your board and then go about your regular purchase habits, closer to the end of the month you can have another look at your board and see if it makes sense to make any specific purchases to help complete the board/rows.

Link worked for me, but not my wife who is a frequent Starbucks customer. I can earn up to 375 stars. It’s pretty much close to what I usually do. However, it does not take into account their small, rural markets. Vermont locations do not offer any of the protein boxes. The only lunch items available have gluten except for the cheese & salami. Also, it forces you to buy bakery items, which are not gluten or sugar free.

Looks like I wasn’t targeted either despite regularly making purchases and being gold.

Isn’t it illegal to not offer a free way to enter? All their other games had free entries.

Free entries required by law are only for sweepstakes, which this promotion is not.

It’s basically a larger-scale Star Dash.

That’s a pretty important fine print. Thanks! This game isn’t publicly available to everyone — or not yet.

The tasks this year suck. Usually I’d knock a few of them down in my normal Starbucks consumption and a few more with some extra purchases, but this year it’s simply too much- like visit 5 starbucks, come 6 times after 2pm, and multiple buy [insert stuff you never buy]. Used to be I’d use this as an excuse to make poor financial decisions and buy some extra coffee but this year there’s zero temptation to do so. Bravo Starbucks, my budget thanks you!

I agree – this is the first time I couldn’t find a “no purchase necessary to obtain game piece”. One of the tasks is to visit 3 Mondays in a row, and there’s only 3 Mondays in the promo period. Needless to say, I didn’t make the first Monday’s visit. Ugh.

I always take an initial look at the tasks to decide if it is worth participating. As William Charles recommends you need to carefully look st the “overlaps” so that you are not constantly making Starbucks trips for items you wouldn’t ordinarily enjoy anyway. Sometimes you’ll need to do something at a certain time of day. Pair that up by arriving near a time that pertains to another task as well and do both on one trip. As always, the value of these promos is based on how much you value stars. I like using Starbucks rewards for their salads (around $9), so a star is worth 7 cents to me and I strategize starting from there.

You can also overlap with other promotions. I currently have a try 3 for 200 stars, all items I’d enjoy. I don’t anticipate finishing the board unless they offer a free square, can’t do their breakfast sandwiches once, let alone the three on my board. I enjoy their protein boxes so I’m more of 5 cents a star.

Celia, that’s an excellent point! Any other promotions you receive can stack with this one. For example, I frequently receive a promo that offers 25 Stars for any purchase. I can actually receive 35 if my purchase also completes a bingo task. I agree with those who are posting that it’s unlikely they’ll complete the entire board this time. Most likely it can be achieved by business “food runners” who frequently visit Starbucks to take food and beverages back to the office.

Meh. I only have access to Starbucks over the weekend because of my location. And I’m required to go on a Monday. Ahah
