Our Verdict
They offered a similar $100/$200 bonus late last year, it was easier to keep the account for the $200 bonus fee free but the bonus requirements also included bill pays. Back in April they offered a $150 bonus for the Essential checking account (then called everyday checking), so if you’re considering the $100 bonus I’d wait for the $150 to come back.
The $200 bonus is a pretty good offer, especially considering these SunTrust checking bonuses can be churned. I’ve added these bonuses to our bank bonus list and also on our best checking bonus list.
I am wondering anybody received 1099 from them? I didn’t. I got the $200 bonus.
Read a few forums, says even if not reported on 1099, still suppose to report to IRS. Shall we just add the amount to it?
Offer Extended to March 31st 2017 now. And on top of that, there is a $300 bonus now.
just to update i went and closed out my account after 6 months at a local branch. Made a whole $200.09 in 6 months.
Tried cc funding with Chase IHG for $1,000 for each checking and savings account. CC funding showed pending on chase.com and then a denial of funding email from suntrust. CA limit was below $1,000.
I opened the $200 bonus checking account and already got the bonus. Can I safely close the account now paying $25 early termination fee without getting the bonus confiscated as well?
I am about to pay $15 month maintenance fee anyway this month, so if I can pay $10 extra to end it completely, that worth it.
TIA
Has anyone gotten a 1099 from them for the $200 promotion? Their customer service reps seem absolutely clueless.
How long has it been taking for bonuses to post? Getting worried I should perhaps transfer another $2k because I am getting close to the 60 days with no bonus yet.
CA advance charged to BofA alaska credit card FYI.
Thanks, added.
Anyone recently have success with an Ally bank transfer. I just signed up and tried this method. I am waiting for it to post to see results. May use PayPal if it does not work.
Bob the Builder… I know this is a year later, but didn’t see any update from you. Did your Ally ACH end up working? Or did you resort to Paypal? I ONLY did Ally and no bonus after more than 8 weeks. Thanks Anita
William,
