Our Verdict
We once saw a $75 bonus on SoFi Invest via referral link, though that one required $1,000 deposit. This is the simplest offer we’ve seen, and could be a nice bonus even for someone who doesn’t want to invest the funds as you can simply signup and do the deposit to get the $75 bonus.
I’d wait 32 days until the reward posts before pulling the funds out, but I don’t see any official requirement of such. The $75 probably won’t get reported on a form 1099, though legally you might have to self-report the bonus. We’ll add this to our list of Best Brokerage Bonuses.
If you’re new to Swagbucks, please read our review. You can also get a bonus of up to $13 by using a referral link.
Post history:
- Update 8/13/23: Back up to $200 now
- Update 3/22/23: Up to $150 now (still not the high $200 bonus)
- Update 2/1/23: Down to $100 now
- Update 1/31/23: Offer is back now, but it’s showing the lower $150 bonus now (at one point this was $200)(ht Mark)
- Update 11/4/22: Increased now from $150 to $200
- Update 9/29/22: Back again at $150
- Update 7/25/22: Bonus is now $150 (up from $121). Some people have had tracking issues with the checking offer so keep that in mind.
- Update 3/28/22: Increased to $121.50 on Swagbucks Revenue Universe or about $125 on MyPoints Revenue Universe. This one has a lower $50 deposit requirement, but does require a crypto trade (any amount). (ht Kris)
- Update 3/12/22: Increased to $100; Update 11/8/21: Has been reduced to $60.
SoFi invest showing as $110 for me on Rakuten app.
7/7/25 Opened SoFi Active Invest account. Rakuten had two entries listed for SoFi Invest as pending.
7/8/25 Deposited $200.
7/18/25 Got the SoFi welcome gift. I received $5.
Some point after this, unsure the exact date, one of the Sofi Invest listings changed to Processing and the other changed to Ineligible. Processing one had the correct deposit amount of $200 listed.
7/23/25 Rakuten changed to Confirmed for $100 cash back. Next payout date of 8/15/25
Rakuten is 50$ now, not 100
I’m seeing $100/10,000 only.
Same. Let me update
Can this be churned for different portals? If I close the one I opened with Rakuten now and try opening another with Inboxdollars later next month or after?
If SoFi banking can be churned on different portals, then SoFi Invest may be the same. It does not hurt to give it try, as opening it does not hurt your credit, Chex or EWS. I keep my SoFi invest open because I use it, otherwise, I would have tried churning it.
Any experience or DPs with signing up for SoFi invest when you have an existing joint checking/savings? I was able to sign up twice, once for myself and once for P2 – used the respective already created logins that we each use to access checking/savings. No errors encountered, and used separate Rakuten accounts. Will just cross fingers for 2x bonuses.
Also P2 already received a welcome email and shows the SoFi invest account in her SoFi login. Nothing for me even though I signed up first. Almost wondering if I didn’t click through to the end but I know I claimed my free $5 stock.
How quick was the payout and did you have to wait 32 days before pulling out?
Also anyone else know if they count crypto and invest signups are used up if when you signed up for SOFI Crypto you were basically so green, that you bought crypto instead of stock on your first purchase(on the crypto offer )?🤓
Swagbucks shows $50 for a GC or am I doing it wrong?
$100 is back again by Rakuten
Does Fidelity, Robinhood or Ally work for DD? thanks
This offer is for Sofi investment account bonus offer which does not require direct deposit.
As I understand, you need to fund the new Sofi investment account with $100 within 45 days to receieve the Rakuten bonus.
I tried this – deposited $50 then $51 within a few days of starting the sofi account. I was denied by Rakuten specifically because they said that the initial deposit has to be $100 and mine was only $50. So despite the ambiguous language, it is NOT about cumulative deposits over the intro period.
Note: I was using a slightly different version of the offer described here, where the minimum initital deposit was $100 rather then $50, but presumably they use the same rules.
Same here. The post was not updated to show that it’s $50 anymore but $100. Sucks that we both missed the opportunity
Rakuten is showing only $50 for me
