[YMMV] 10,000 Membership Rewards Points For Enrolling In Pay Over Time

Several people (1, 2, 3) have now received the bonus even though they didn’t receive a targeted e-mail/snail mail. It’s entirely possible that the targeted letter is still on the way, but it seems as if if the 10,000 point offer shows up for you you’ll get the 10,000 points regardless of whether you received the targeted communication or not. You can try these links:

Because of this I’ve updated the title from Targeted to YMMV.

The Offer

No Direct Link (see our verdict section as to why)

  • American Express are currently offering selected charge cardholders 10,000 points when they enroll Extended Payment Option

The Fine Print

  • Email subject line is ‘You Qualify for a Flexible Payment Option’. People also being targeted via snail mail.

Our Verdict

There are direct links for this offer, but what usually happens is that if you weren’t targeted it will sometimes let you register but then you won’t receive the 10,000 points. The downside to this of course is that you’re now enrolled in pay over time without the 10,000 points and you now have no chance of being targeted for the 10,000 point offer. I’d love to hear from readers if this is their experience or not. If you want you can try these links anyway:

If you have any questions about Pay Over Time (e.g hard/soft pull) I’d recommend reading through our F.A.Q on the topic found here. You don’t actually need to use the pay over time feature to get the 10,000 bonus points, you must simply enroll in it.

Does this increase your total available credit line (i.e. utilization)? Or AMEX reports as same (charge card) and just knows internally you have this feature?

Can you un-enroll and re-enroll?

Anyone seen this targeted on their business platinum (it seems targeted to personal only)? I opened it a few weeks ago and the today the rep wanted to enroll me over the phone but I declined knowing I may get this promo later (I didn’t ask him about the bonus – probably should have).

Thanks

Datapoint:
I tried both links when you originally posted them, and was not eligible.
I just tried again, and the 10k offer showed up (posted two days later).
Thanks.

i’m not targeted to my knowledge

used the 27 link to try and enroll my plat vanilla. received “We’re unable to process your Pay Over Time enrollment request at this time. We’ll process your request within the next 7 to 10 days as long as your account remains eligible. A written communication will be provided to you.” after hitting the button 🙁

I just got the targeted offer in the mail today. So even though I AM targeted, neither of the links worked for me yesterday.

I’ll try again with the targeted code in the mail offer

I just want to let everyone know that I received the offer for a card that I recently closed (Amex Reward Gold closed in Dec). I also have a platinum card I open recently (January 2018). I tried to register the offer on the Platinum card and it said I am not eligible. It looks like the offer is card specific and not person specific.

Question, are the ones getting targeted for the offer carrying any balances until the statement hits? Im so use to paying it before anything hits the statement. Maybe that could be a reason some people are targeted? Thanks.
