Nice to see some top brands here. A lot of people get more value out of MR points; for others this can be a good deal. Those with the Schwab Amex won’t gain from this redemption since they can cash out at 1.25 cents per point.

American Express MR points are a joke unless you transfer out or have the Schwab Platinum Card. Most of their gift cards are less than 1 cent per point in value. For example, a $50 Starbucks gift card from AMEX is 7143 MR points while Chase, Citi, and pretty much everyone else would be 5000 points for a $50 gift card. Same goes for booking any kind of travel other than flights through the Amex travel site, you get less than 1 cent per point. in value while all of the completion offers 1 – 1.5 cents per point regardless of the type of travel.
I have 30% off Delta gift cards which bring them down to 1 cent/pt ($50 = 5000 points, $250 = 25000 etc vs $50 = 7143 or $250 = 35,714).
Offer must be redeemed online between 5/1/2018 and 6/30/2018.
You can always use “pay with points” at 1cpp to burn Skymiles as well. Only advantage here would be avoiding the amex domestic points transfer fee, and earning skymiles by paying with a GC instead of points.
I got the notification earlier today. It seems like $25 Walmart gift card around 2800 points.
What about the higher denoms?
I see the offer on CB2, Crate and Barrell, Home Depot, iTunes, Walmart and Williams-Sonoma. The offer is available for all denominations.
To redeem for $25 Walmart I need 3572 points. I’m assuming this is before the discount and I’m not targeted. So even if I’m targeted it’s still not worth it. Damn
