  • Anyone have luck arguing for credit if specific property isn’t on list? The headline offer is ambiguous and I stayed at a Hilton in Mexico before seeing it wasn’t on the list

  • Have this offer on my Aspire card. I anticipate spending $1,000 on a brief Vegas stay (including extras) But since I'm getting my $200 Aspire card semi-annual resort credit, will that then count as me spending only $800 and negate the AMEX offer? If so, since I have no other resort stays, this offer would be useless and would actually punish those of us who spend $550 for the Aspire card.

    • no because the FHR credit requires you to prepay amex travel

but this hilton offer requires payment directly to hilton

      • You could still provide this card at check in and use it for incidentals. If you ran up $1,000+ in charges you would get this credit in addition to the FHR credit

        • Last time I stayed with FHR (2 months ago at a Fairmont) the front desk made me use an Amex to pay for incidentals. Any Amex worked…I put it on my Gold. I tried to use my Chase Reserve to use up some of my $300 annual credit, but the front desk clerk said FHR stays had to be settled to an Amex. So this deal would work well if you book FHR and plan to have a lot of incidentals.

  • I got this on my Hilton Surpass card. We’re planning a trip next month so I thought this might be a slam dunk.

There is a gotcha. In the terms non-refundable room rates are excluded. The “pay now” non-refundable room rates are $50 less per night, so for our four night stay it looks like it’s a wash.

    • Yeah this restriction is present on pretty much all AMEX Hilton offers - as @guest_1798875 mentioned it prevents pre-paying for future stays and can help drive bookings during certain seasons (not necessarily off-peak though - this would be a great time of year to stay at the eligible properties in Mexico, the Caribbean, Arizona, or Las Vegas, some of the best weather of the year!).

If you book a non-refundable rate Hilton will throw a big "pre-pay" on the transaction with AMEX, so they know what it's for and it won't trigger the offer.

    • What is non-refundable in Hilton-speak? Would that be rates charged by the web site as opposed to the hotel? Can you call the hotel and see if they will charge the "non-refundable" price directly?

      • Nonrefundable is when you pay for the full cost of the room in advance. Those are nonrefundable.

So for most people this will only apply if they are actually staying at the Hilton before 5/15. (Technically, you will have to have checked out of your room well before 5/15, because your hotel charges don't post until a few days after you check out)

If you book the resort for, for example, August 2024 (peak summer season), and prepay the hotel in April, then this offer won't apply.

So basically this offer is to boost occupancy during non-peak spring season.

  • Oi. I knew I'd be disappointed but I had to check on the Hilton Card anyways.

Jokes on me tho bc I also didn't get it on the other cards =(
