Our Verdict

Good deal if you’re targeted. I’m guessing they won’t be this generous when the digital card launches to everybody.

“Cashback Rewards” pending in my account now.

“Cashback Rewards” was 0.5% CB for me. The 5% CB was “Digital Card Promo Cash Back”, or 4.75% in my case, and limited to the first $1,000.

Probably won’t know until May 5th, but it’s easy enough that I’ll gave it a try.

My offer was extended through email – “That’s why we’re extending our offer of 5% cash back on every digital card purchase through the end of April.*”

What does Square mean? Load balance to square through the debit card?

Yes, sorry for the delay, didn’t receive your initial message for some reason.

Yes, you could load you square cash balance with the aspiration debit card. It appears to have worked to trigger the digital card promo.

The targeted mail (which I received on March 12) has a link to “Get your digital card in the app”. Should this link actually direct you somewhere that would indicate that you have signed up for the promotion? I am on Android and the link simply sends me to my “Account Summary”.

To answer my own question. I called this evening and spoke with “Wren”. I have only called Aspiration twice and have now spoken with Wren both times. They added the digital debit card to my account and confirmed that the promotion is 5% back on any purchase less than or equal to $1000 (to be used multiple times?), and not 5% on up to $1000 spend. Excellent customer support, Wren!

Would you be able to make online purchases with this? Like say with Amazon. Or does it have to be a physical purchase?

I had this offer, the “digital card” is available in the app, and is a different number than the physical card.

“on every purchase for the next five weeks”…..”up to $1,000 of purchases”…..um, those aren’t the same thing…. Like offering free Apple Watches…… after an initial purchase fee of $350
