    • 1% on everything else

Our Verdict

This is the highest earning card on restaurant purchases. You can also keep it long term due to the fact it has no annual fee. If you max out the rides then the bonus is worth up to $300, but I suspect most people wouldn’t be completing 10 rides of $20+ in August without some cheaper rides being thrown in. Still an excellent offer on this card if you can maximize it or get close and can take advantage of the 4% on restaurants. Shame the offer is targeted. As always if you have any questions about Barclays credit cards, read this post first.

I have a 30% off email offer if I apply for this credit card and a 40% off offer saved in my uber app. Do these two stack?
Also for getting the 30% off does one need to pay by this card for the trip or could be any other card ?

didn’t receive an email and yesterday no offer in the app.

today, i opened the app and see a “limited time offer”:
30% off rides in august (up to $10 for 40 rides)
$100 bonus after spending $500 in 90 days

i was going to wait until november when the discover 5% CB for restos ends, but might apply now. thanks for posting, DoC. wouldn’t have known about this without you.

people, go check the app and see if you have an offer!

I was going to apply for this card today, so this is timely. Any way to get this if I’m not targeted by e-mail? I’ve tried getting it to show in the Uber app, but no luck so far….

I just signed up for this card before this, I wonder if I can ask about getting the free rides as a bonus as well?

“This is the highest earning card on restaurant purchases.”

To be fair, anyone traveling even a little with a CSR is going to be getting 4.5% minimum with 3x UR. And VantageWest will give 5% on restaurants, although that’s capped at ?$1500? a quarter.

The Uber card is a really solid earning card for restaurants. But I don’t think you can make a blanket statement it’s the highest earning card.

This card is, without a doubt, the highest earning card on restaurant purchases because it’s a flat-rate uncapped 4%. The Saphire Reservce gives 3% back that can be turned to 4.5% ONLY for travel. That’s a restriction on your cash back. So his comment is accurate and I support it.

I got a 60% off 10 rides (up to $10) targeted email. Any suggestions for contacting them to obtain the 10 free instead?

I got the 30% off rides (max $10) offer for Uber cc as well buy I am not showing any 40 rides language.
1. What exactly did you mean by $10 for 40 rides ?
2. For getting the discount do we need to pay for the trip by this card only
3. Any success in converting to the free ride offer ?

Haven’t applied yet so I can’t answer #3.

WRT #2- I think you should put some if not all the rides on your UBER card since you get $100 bonus if you spend $500 within the first 90 days.

WRT #1- that is what my promo showed. “30% off rides, up to $10 off 40 rides”
I think this means I get 30% off 40 rides (I can take more than 1 ride a day in August).
For each ride, the max savings is limited to $10.
Example: if a ride cost $40 from the airport during peak hours, I would only get $10 off (effectively 25% off), which is not the full 30% off. I’ve had rides cost >$100 each so this is just a way for uber to limit my offer at $400 versus it being unlimited although I doubt people take >40 rides per month

If your offer says 30% off (max $10 per ride) but doesn’t limit # of rides, then you could get some nice savings if you’re a frequent rider of short trips (ie NYC).
If you took 30- $35 rides (1 ride per day), then your overall bonus is effectively $406 ($306 +$100 if you spend $500). If your rides cost less than $35 each (and/or you made 30 or less trips), then your bonus is a lot less and vice versa

Interesting read on how this card illuminates Uber’s possible longer-term strategy (despite the click bait headline): https://blog.producthunt.com/ubers-credit-card-is-bankrupting-restaurants-and-it-s-all-your-fault-af76ea9ca46d

To try and maximize the uber credit, u could always tip the driver the difference to make it to the $20, then ask the driver to give u cash back after taking out the amount you want to tip. I know it sounds like a pain but It would b a way to try to do it. I drive 4 Uber and would give the passenger some cash back if they told me what’s up. As long as I saw the tip bc some passengers like to talk how they’ll tip u but then don’t.

Careful man you could get chargeback scammed. I wouldn’t be giving out cash if I were you.
