Our Verdict
The reason I’m posting this offer is that it doesn’t contain the restrictive 24 month language (as always check your own offer to make sure it’s absent). Meaning if you’ve opened or closed another Citi American Airlines personal card in the last 24 months you can get the sign up bonus on this card as well. If you haven’t then you might be better off applying for another American Airlines card first (executive is offering 75,000 miles and success getting matched to 75,000 miles on select card). As always make sure you read through these things everybody should know about Citi cards.

Got both of mailers at the same time, gold card mailer for 65K, and plat card mailer for 65k as well. no 24 month language, but “if you are an existing citi/aa cardmember, you are not eligible for this offer on your existing account” is on there. Worth trying both of them? is there any way I can get bonus from both of them?
Just got this mail in January, i don’t have any Citi AA’s credit card. I’m curious that if I apply for Citi AA platinum and then I get bonus, could I apply for this Citi AA’s Gold card by this mail and get the bonus? Thanks
I received this offer in the mail as well…
However, either myself or my wife threw it away with some miscellaneous junk mail from the countertop.
Any idea how I can still get this offer?!
I called Citi & spoke with 2 different non-English speaking CSR’s, which told me that there is “nothing they can do, bc they don’t keep track of who gets the mailers…”
Any help would be appreciated!!!
I got this in my mail today. I currently have a citi AA platinum select card.
The terms say that “if you are an existing citi/aa cardmember, you are not eligible for this offer on your existing account”.
So should I apply?
Please let me. Thank you.
Anyone?

I have the same question… got a mail today with the same language. I too have an advantage platinum.
lol same boat here, got the mailer, gold card mailer for 50K/5K, no 24 month language, but ““if you are an existing citi/aa cardmember, you are not eligible for this offer on your existing account” is on there. Worth trying?
Sorry, but this is not true. Some mailers have codes that can be used by people other than the targeted customer. You simply have to put their name in first, then change their information to yours after the lookup page.
Darn, got this in the mail a few days ago… but need to get over 5/24 before doing so, plus have not had a Citi AA ever, so I’d want to apply for another before this… but mine says expires 10/15/17. Do not think I will make it.
Anyone know if they are very strict about the expiration dates?
2 month leeway. You have till 12/15/17 before that invite code dies
If you are an existing Citi AAdvantage cardmember, you are not eligible for this offer on your existing account
Says who?
States in the terms however “existing account” should be interpreted as the currently open / old Citi AA account and does not speak to the new app. Term thrown in to prevent existing Citi AA cardmembers from SM Citi asking to get matched to a better / new offer (which oddly Citi matches anyway despite that term)
The difference is apparently that 9 digits codes can be used by someone else, and the 12 digit codes can only be used by the named recipient.

A person in my household got the mailer. It has a 12 digit code, which according to comments on Flyertalk aren’t as good as the 9 digit codes. Any Intel on this?
9 works and 12 doesn’t (at least AFAIK).
so i have the regular citi aa platinum select cards (2 of them in the last 8 months) i’ve never had a gold or biz or any other citi AA card, can i still get this one? or is there a new rule in play here that any citi AA card opened in the last 24 months?
Newish rule, read this: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/citi-24-month-churning-rule-explained-detail/
