[Expired] [Targeted] eBay: $5 Off Coupon

Deal has expired, view more eBay deals by clicking here.

The Offer

  • eBay is offering some users $5 off with no minimum spend requirement

The Fine Print

  • Valid until 01/31/19 23:59 PST
  • Must redeem with this internet browser

Our Verdict

Interestingly people are getting this pop up when they aren’t even logged in. Not sure if it’s storing a cookie from when you’ve previously been logged in, or they are targeting based on other factors. Should be stackable with the 8% in eBay bucks.

Same experience as Trevor. Coupon mysteriously appeared. I always use Firefox Private mode. Found item, logged in, went to apply coupon “poof” coupon could not be applied. Bastards. I think I tried it again without logging in, but maybe it saved my IP (I always use VPN, BTW), still wouldn’t apply. There was a mystery feedback box “How did you like the coupon” and I told then they suck. I’ve been trying to get a $10 dollar LED for my microwave that I only want to pay $5 bucks for. Sigh, the things we do.

It came up on a computer at work that I never use for eBay. Not sure it played a role or it was just a random coincidence.

From what I’ve seen, they target this to people who have been searching a lot but never logged in or made a purchase on that browser. So what they suspect to be a “new customer.” It’s actually a bunch of crap. I logged in on that browser with an old eBay account and suddenly the code is invalid. When they realize you aren’t actually a “new customer”, they won’t pay up.
