[Targeted] U.S. Bank Cash+: $200 Sign Up Bonus After $500 In Spend

The Offer

No direct link, targeted offer

  • U.S. Bank is currently offering a sign up bonus of $200 when you spend $500 or more within the first 90 days of account opening on the Cash+ card.

The Fine Print

  • Existing and previous Cash+ Card accounts do not qualify for this offer
  • This is an online offer only

Our Verdict

Most people are interested in this card due to the 5% cash back categories you can choose and the fact that there is no annual fee. The public bonus is currently $150 and we’ve seen an offer of $125 + an extra 0.5% back on all purchases for the first year. This $200 offer is the best offer we’ve seen on this card, it’s a shame it’s targeted. Check out these Things to Know about US Bank Credit Cards before applying. Getting approved for U.S. Bank cards can be difficult, so some people will want to apply for the U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve card instead and then downgrade that to this card for the 5% categories at a later date. (that downgrade is not possible, see comments for more information).

Are there datapoints of people being able to downgrade their Altitude Reserve to this? I tried to downgrade my Flexperks to this and they told me that I couldn’t product change from a points earning card to a cashback card. I did get a retention bonus on the Flexperks card though.

What is the retention offer?

They gave me extra Flexpoints to discourage me from cancelling the card.

I have two of these. I applied for my first one last year, then was able to product change an old FlexPerks card to a second one shortly after that. Only one signup bonus of course, but now I get to pick four 5% categories each quarter which is very handy. Just FYI.

Someone on reddit.com/r/churning said that US Bank doesn’t allow product change from Altitude Reserve to Cash+, can someone confirm this?
