Normally going into bank branches is a waste of time and exceptionally frustrating experience, right now I can think of three good reasons as to why you’d want to visit a Chase branch:
- Possible to get the Chase Sapphire Reserve, even if you’re over 5/24
- Chase Ink Plus is offering a 70,000 point sign up bonus with the annual fee waived for the first year (I assume Chase Ink Cash is offering the $300 bonus as well)
- You can get a $500 bonus on the Chase business checking account
If I was to do those three in any order, I’d do the business checking account first, followed by the Reserve and finished by the Chase Ink card. You’d end up with two hard pulls (unfortunately business and personal accounts do not combine hard inquiries) but you’d net 170,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points (after a combined spend of $9,000 – definitely not achievable for everybody). You’d have to pay an annual fee of $450, but you could also get $600 in travel credits so I’d say that evens out.
Chase branches aren’t going to be close to everybody, but you can find the closest one to you here.
Is it wise to go for both a CSR & INK in the same visit? Or should this be spaced apart?
Hello, has any stay-at-home moms applied in branch?? When I apply online, I usually put my husband’s account because he’s the one working, but I am not sure if I should say that I am unemployed and give my husband’s income. Any insights please?
Few info: 805 fico, 17/24.
My understanding is that so long as you have access to your husband’s income (e.g. a shared checking account) you can put his income.
You’re allowed to give household income, I’d check in branch.
I was able to successfully double dip and get both the CSR and 70k INK+ while being at 8/24 in branch. Interesting thing while trying to determine if hard pulls combined that maybe you guys could shed some light on. Historically this branch has pulled Experian for me. After checking my Experian directly on its site, there is just one new hard pull, but the date is wrong. I applied on August 26, but the date is August 25. Holding out hope for just one hard pull and not finding another one later.
to be CPC you have to deposit 250k, how soon can I take out that fund after initial deposit?
I wouldn’t recommend gaming CPC, but that’s your call.
Went in for the $300 checking. Ask to see if i was pre approved for the reserve, wasn’t. But tried anyways and got declined. 🙁
Went in to open $500 business checking. They asked for my trade name certificate. Obviously don’t have one so I walked out.
CSR app went pending 2 weeks so hoping to get approved.
data point. I was 17/24 (And I got 5 new cards in july alone) with 770 score and was pre approved at chase in branch and I got approved for the card 🙂 yay super happy. I also have a chase checking account with 3k in it and i have ink, CSP and both united cards which i all got within the last year.
Thanks for the data point Nick that gives me some hope.
Well, just to supply the data point… 24/24, Experian over 800, and no pre-approval. Figured I was going out and hit the Chase in town. Wouldn’t have done it if I had to travel far. Did NOT apply as a result. Don’t see the point.
I would have done the same.
Should you first apply online to find out yourself if you get automatically approved and if not then go in the bank for pre-approved offers?
Read the article. They aren’t the same.
Go to the bank. More likely to get approved.
Has anyone confirmed that you can call a branch and ask them to look for any pre-approved offers before going in? I am in Massachusetts and was thinking of calling a branch in CT to check, but was curious about any data points.
It’s possible but difficult, I doubt most bankers will do it.
