Twitch Prime: 12 Months Of Nintendo Switch Online For Free

Update 5/27/19: If you claimed the first three months for free when we first posted you can now claim the other nine months (or should be able to in the next day or two).

The Offer

Direct link to offer (affiliate link here and below)

  • Twitch Prime members can get 12 months of Nintendo Switch Online access for free. If you have Amazon Prime then you also have Twitch prime (click here to connect accounts). You have to claim 3 months free first and then after 60 days you can come back and claim the other 9 months.

The Fine Print

  • Valid until September 24th, 2019

Our Verdict

You do need to add a credit card and after the 12 months is up you are auto enrolled in the program so you’ll need to remember to cancel if you don’t want to pay for Switch Online.

It seems it worked for me. Any clue if people sharing Amazon Prime can get one code each for NSO?

You mean Prime shared household? Even though Twitch Prime isn’t supposed to work for a household member, I am one, and it has worked for the free sub to twitch streamers and just worked for this Nintendo online… The main prime account I have not tried to use twitch Prime on as well though. So not sure you can get 2 of these, but definitely the household can even when it says on amazon that household doesn’t get the benefit of twitch Prime. . Let us know if you try this with both!

Yeah, I linked my Twitch account to Amazon, even though I am not the primary member of the household, so maybe now the primary one cannot do it? I will try some time later and see if it works.

IT seems you can turn off auto-renewal so you shouldn’t have to cancel later. The sequence is [Your Username] > Settings (or Account Settings) > Shop Menu > Subscriptions Settings > Turn Off Auto-Renew.
If you don’t see the Subscription Settings in the Shop Menu scroll down, it took a minute for me to realize that there were options below the payment settings.
Also, you’ll want to check it again after you add the other part in 60 days. If it is anything like Playstation it’ll reactivate Auto-Renew when you redeem a new code.

Thanks DoC. I literally just had my membership expire!

Does anyone know if this works for an Amazon Prime trial? I don’t have Amazon Prime right now but was thinking of signing up for a new trial anyways.

I think you would be able to get 3 months for free, see the FAQ:

This offer is available to Twitch Prime members only. If you aren’t currently a Twitch Prime member, click the “Try Prime” button above to start a free trial of Amazon Prime.

It makes sense that they set it up as 3m then 9m in order to let you try it.

Hi do I need a Nintendo Switch or can I play online with a PC or Nvidia Shield? Thanks!

Great question. I am also wondering if there is any benefit to those of us that don’t own a Nintendo Switch

NSO is just the online service for switch games. With NSO subscription you can play some switch games online with other players. So if you don’t own a Nintendo switch then NSO is useless to you.

It asked me to pay $7.99 for the first 3 months. Is that right?

That’s what mine is saying. Is this correct?

just hit redeem. It won’t actually charge you.

Thanks for the reminder. I was a little late claiming the first rewards, so I need to wait two more days to claim the second reward.
