President Donald J. Trump has announced that entry of most foreign nationals who have been in the Federative Republic of Brazil at any point during the 14 days prior to their scheduled arrival to the United States will be denied starting 11:59 p.m. eastern daylight time on May 28, 2020. Brazil has the second highest confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 310,08 as of May 23rd.
Brazil extended their own travel ban for citizens of all countries on Friday, May 22nd for another 30 days. It’s been going on for a couple of months now.
i don’t understand….their president thinks it is just a flu right? then why would they ban foreigners if it is just a flu…..

Every country has the right to control its borders. Even the USA.
I don’t think Dan was trying to say that other countries should retaliate by closing their borders, but rather that the prevalence of disease here in the US is so much higher than the rest of the world that we pose a risk to the health of other countries if we choose to travel internationally. (Meaning there is a legitimate safety reason to ban travelers from the US from entering your country.)
Build a wall and ask Brazil pay for it!

Travel ban DOES NOT work unless you are banning all other countries at the same time and at an early stage like some small pacific islands did. Now is too little and too late. Most other countries are banning us.
Plus they’re not banning US citizens, so you can have them enter the county infected. It’s why the original ban of flights from China and Europe didn’t help, and particularly because they did not check the people who were allowed to enter and carried the virus with them.
