I recently wrote about an IHG credit card survey and readers sent me two more, one about Alaska cards and the other United.

Alaska
This is the same survey as The Military Frequent Flyer received. We just have a little bit more information now. Below you can
United
Reader SteveH was presented with a cojoint-style survey (you’re given two choices, you pick which once you prefer). Some examples of benefits:
- 2 Free upgrades to comfort plus
- 2 Free upgrades to premium class
- A one time companion pass on any fare purchase
- Various spend bonus categories and amounts (eg, 3x restaurants)
- 10,000 miles bonus for annual spend
- $300 travel credit
- Global Entry/TSA Precheck credit
- United Lounge access
- Ability to transfer miles to other airlines!
- Annual fees from $95 – $450 (with a range in between)
According to Steve the options seem to be very similar to what the Chase Sapphire Reserved. They also did question if he would consider opening these if it was a new card (he said no due to 5/24 rule).
Our Verdict
Card issuers and co-branded partners send out these types of surveys on a regular basis, that doesn’t mean we should expect any of these cards/options to hit the market and even if they do it will likely be some time away as this is preliminary research.
