Our Verdict
As always, be sure to compare rates to ensure you’re getting the best deal. Dates vary by portal.
500 miles for Alaska Dining sign up. If you can get the form to work.
DP on dealing with shopping portals. In I had a long stay in November 2024 at a Marriott booked through the AA shopping portal at 2.5 miles per dollar spent.
Last night I sent the following message after multiple times having them pushing things off on Marriott and that they will get back to me in a 2 to 3 weeks:
“I would like an update please before I file a complaint with the California State Department of Consumer Affairs.”
This morning I got the following reply:
“Marriott International order #xxxxxx is being credited to your account for this amount:
$3,000 x 2.5 miles = 7,500 miles
Please allow 3-5 days for the order to post to the shopping account. It takes some additional time for your transaction to be sent and posted to your airline account.”
The amount is $3K because there is a max amount that can be rewarded per stay.
Threats work.
These portals are always barely worth it in my experience. Doesn’t track 75% of the time and I have to file support tickets. I had them investigate a very large purchase and tell me they fixed it by giving me literally 4 miles for a purchase in the thousands. I think its on purpose to avoid paying out to people and you just give up in frustration
That is why I made the threat of reporting them to the California State Department of Consumer Affairs. I just booked a last minute one-way domestic flight on AA for 9K miles that would have been ~$350 so these 7500 points are worth nearly $300.
UA and AS don’t have shopping portal bonuses right now. Can you fix this story?
None of these are showing for me now
I am not seeing it in my UA portal is this targeted?
I believe the title is wrong but the body of the message seems accurate with AA, Southwest and Delta having promos.
