United & Delta have both sent out surveys regarding some possible changes to their co-branded credit cards. Both Chase (issues the United card) and American Express (issues the Delta card) have been making changes to their credit card line up, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we do see some of these changes in the future. That being said these surveys are sent out on a frequent basis and often no changes are made.
United
A lot of the survey was asking what offer you’d be more likely to choose. Each option contained the sign up bonus and a list of benefits, most of the benefits were the existing benefits but there were a few new options:
- 6x miles per $1 spent at many popular retail stores, restaurants and online merchants (MPX)
- Use miles for credit towards a United ticket purchase (e.g 20,000 miles = $200)
Delta
Keep in mind the addition of benefits was being talked about across the full suite of Delta cards (and the Reserve has a $450 annual fee). Some things considered:
- Lyft credits, $10/month or $200/year
- Price protection on flights, if the price changes within 10 days of booking you automatically get refunded
- Extended free cancellation up to 1 week after booking
- 0% APR periods for Delta purchases
- 2x earning on gas, groceries, or restaurants
- 2-5x earning on all travel
- 3-5x earning on Delta
- Waived guest fees on SkyClub access with Reserve
- Upgrade priority with Reserve regardless of Medallion status
Hilton
This was specifically talking about the Aspire card and was asking cardholders if they would prefer:
- One annual free weekend night + $250 resort credit (current benefit) or
- Two annual free weekend nights (proposed change)
